European Tour Loves To Host
By Kickntrue on 10/6/08
I'm not a mathmatician but when The European Tour announced they'll be hosting 53 events in 2009 I have to admit I was confused. I was under the assumption there were only 52 weeks in a year.
In 2009 the European Tour will be making an effort to keep their best players with the first "Race to Dubai." The Race to Dubai is Europes answer to the FedExCup. The prizes for the Race will be as big if not bigger than the FedExCup- thanks in large part to the strong Euro over the American dollar.
I think this will definately keep players in Europe for more events and will probably draw a couple Americans over for more events. If you can play against weeker fields and win more money... again I'm not very good at math but that seems like a good thing.

Interesting deal. $10 mil for the winner and $10 mil split between 2nd and 15th places. Not bad. The 53 events play in because the season they are running goes from early Nov 2008 through mid Nov 2009, so your math's not off...
I hope these guys have learned something from the whole Fed-Ex cup points debacle. I'm not convinced the PGA has yet. I guess time will tell...
www.golfweek.com/story/tait-100708 more on this from Golfweek's Alistair Tait. I think this is def. going to be a big deal.
