Golf Sneaks Into Stimulus Package
By Kickntrue on 2/9/09
While some of congress wants to make sure stimulus package money stays away from golf, $300M is already earmarked for new carts. On page 96 of the 778 page monster it says,
"ENERGY-EFFICIENT FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE FLEET PROCUREMENT: For capital expenditures and necessary expenses of acquiring motor vehicles with higher fuel economy, including: hybrid vehicles; neighborhood electric vehicles; electric vehicles; and commercially-available, plug-in hybrid vehicles, $300,000,000, to remain available until September 30, 2011."Neighborhood Electric vehicles or NEVs for short are nothing more than fancy golf carts. I just hope some of the new carts stay out of the streets of retirement communities and onto courses (or in my driveway).
What Is A NEV?
Congress Says No To Golf
