Y.E. Yang Is Victorious
By Kickntrue on 3/9/09
World Ranked 460 coming into the week, Y.E. Yang of Korea won the Honda Classic by a stroke. I have a feeling that world rank will be looking better.
I actually can't figure out how he's ranked so low.
After winning the 2006 HSBC Champions Tournament by 2 strokes over Tiger Woods, he vaulted into the world's top 40 and earned a spot in the Masters. It's been a downward spiral ever since, though, as he was ranked No. 460 going into this week.I can't figure out how making 17 out of 23 cuts can have you so low on the PGA Tour Money List. Furthermore- even if he finished 157th on the money list last year, I don't see how that makes him 460 in the world. Certainly 459 people in front of him haven't won a golf tournament worldwide in the past 3 years. I'd have to think if he's the 157th best on the PGA Tour that has to rank him at least 300th worldwide.
Anyway- that should be taken care of now- and Y.E. earns a trip back to Augusta. If you didn't bother to watch any of the golf this weekend- here is a reason to like Yang- after every birdie he pointed to the camera with a little shooter gun (a la Shooter McGavin in Happy Gilmore). The golf world may revolve around Tiger, but you got to like the personalities showing through in other players.
