Retief Goosen Finds Winner's Circle
By Kickntrue on 3/23/09
Retief Goosen had not won a golf tournament for nearly four years until yesterday. Once considered one of the best golfers in the world (not that being the 39th best golfer is the world is bad) Goosen jumped 17 spots to number 22 in the Official World Rankings with his win on the tough Copperhead course at the Innisbrook Resort in Florida.
This is great news for Goosen and good practice for the rest in the field this weekend. The course setup was considered to be about as close to US Open conditions as they'll see before Bethpage this year.
Did anyone else think after his birdie putt went 5 feet by on the 72nd hole we were going to see a(nother) choke from Retief with the flat stick?
I've found myself enjoying and looking forward to the "PGA Tour Confidential" roundup on Golf.com every Monday- so check it out. It has some good insight on the Transitions Championship as well as some cool perspective from some guys with a little more access than you or me.

Weird the article preview on the home page says "four nearly for years." It made my brain hurt. At least it's correct here.
