Angel Cabrera Wins Masters
By Kickntrue on 4/12/09
I was going to do some creative title with "Angel" but figured his performance Sunday deserved the straight story. I know it's easy to get caught up in an event the minutes following the finish and you often see people dub things "greatest ever," so I won't do that. I do think though, that this year will stand the test of time in being remembered as a great event.
Tiger and Phil's heroics followed by an amazing finish. Kenny Perry choking, Campbell staying in the hunt, and Angel somehow still parring the first playoff hole.
The real winners this weekend were the fans and Augusta National. Augusta Chair Billy Payne has said weather was the reason the course has played so tough the last few years, and at least for 361 days he can't be denied. The course played perfectly full of birdies, tough pars and plenty of Sunday roars.
Awesome weekend. Awesome first major.
Congrats to Angel Cabrera and Argentina for finally winning a green jacket.

That was really fun to watch. Makes me feel good knowing the guy in the green jacket hits trees too.
Loved every bit of it. It was great to see what the golf world would be like if Tiger was just one of the regular golfers. I found it extremely interesting that Kenny admitted being nervous, it's obvious that's why he couldn't close the deal. Now that Angel has won two majors I hope he get a better interpreter, or better yet learns the language.
I speak spanish and that translator was very loose with his translation.
When he put himself behind a tree on his first shot of the playoff, I didn't think much of his chances to win.
Sergio has got some serious issues, he had the audacity to say he doesn't like Augusta National because it's "not fair". Until he sees a sports psychologist about the "golf gods being out to get him", he'll never win a major. Angel hits into the lumber yard on a playoff hole and still wins,,, now that fair.

What an ugly ending. It turned into who sucked the least.
I am always a Tiger fan and was disappointed that he didn't get his winning finish. However 2nd in line for me would have been Perry, giving us older guys a good feeling that we can still perform. On the golf course...
