Dude can golf...
Big Ben Roethlisberger Shoots 81
By Kickntrue on 6/18/09
Steeler's QB Ben Roethlisberger shot the best score in the foursome of himself, Justin Timberlake, Michael Jordan and a lucky fool from Phoenix at Bethpage earlier this week. The US Open Challenge, which gives a lucky winner a chance to play with celebrities on the US Open course in Open conditions, seems to have been a success for the 2nd year in a row.

Roethlisberger from the tips of Bethpage Black shot an impressive 81, followed by Jordan's 86 and Timberlake's 88. Larry Giebelhausen, the contest winner shot a 101.

I'm going to go out on a pretty thick limb and guess there will be PGA Pros who shoot worse than an 81 in the first two rounds. Granted, the rain is ugly and I don't think Big Ben had to deal with that, but still... real impressive.

You can watch highlights of their round Sunday on NBC before US Open coverage airs.

As a fun side story. Here is an account of Stewart Cink Twittering during a practice round and finding one of Michael Jordan's lost balls.

81 is impressive!!! I'm a Cheesehead and not a Steelers fan however Ben seems to be a good guy!!!
terpsno1 says:
He can golf maybe - But he's still a drama queen - He probably had a hangnail or he would have broke 80
Kickntrue says:
@terpsno1- WHAT?! Dude is one of the toughest guys in the NFL. You must be a Brown/Ravens/Bungles fan.
Ben Crane says:
So reading the article on Cink's twittering it states Jordan didn't even finish the 18th. How did he get a score?
ToddRobb says:
I was dead wrong, I didn't think any of them would break 100.
Kickntrue says:
@ben crane- he found a ball from Jordan's practice round.
lopezebra says:
All the celebs are cheaters, those aren't their real scores
ToddRobb says:
I think they're going to show it on Saturday or Sunday before the broadcast of the Open.
ToddRobb says:
I just checked, it's scheduled for Sunday at 12:00 on NBC
Kickntrue says:
@lopezebra -- you just bitter? I don't see how they could've cheated with cameras and officials following them around. It's not like they just took off and walked the course and then reported their scores when they got in.
ToddRobb says:
I don't think lopezebra knew the whole thing was being filmed for television.
WicketMike says:
wasnt it supppose to air this morning at 9am? did it air ?
ToddRobb says:
They moved it to July 4th, because of all the crazy coverage.
