Women's US Open Changes Formula
![]() No Gulbis this wekeend The Women's US Open starts today with two of the LPGA's biggest stars missing from the event, Natalie Gulbis and Michelle Wie. The USGA has announced changes to the process for next year, but it won't help Natalie or Michelle feel any better this weekend.
The fact that neither are in the field this year is due to a change for this year that cut automatic qualification from the current year money list from 50 to just 10. Wie is currently 11th on the 2009 money list and has 5 top 10's in 11 starts. While Natalie hasn't played great in 2009, it does seem a bit like a raw deal for Wie. Despite what you think of her past ambitions and failures, Wie is clearly one of the top players on the LPGA right now and she should be playing. And unless Natalie started playing left-handed, that picture is backwards. But maybe I just stared a little too long to notice. I love those golf skirts ;) 7/9/09
i'm a graphic designer and i can't stand it when people don't pay enough attention to stuff like that. couldn't FHM at least see that "Taylormade" was backwards on her hat???? 7/9/09
I was thinking of heading up to Saucon Valley this weekend to see what Natalie looks like in person. I guess I'll keep the $45 in my pocket now. 7/9/09
@hotbacon- shorter than you'd think. hate to say this... but ... not as hot as she looks in magazines... you should still make the drive- because there are hotter women on the LPGA Tour who will be playing. 7/9/09
