Is Watson Really Going To Do This?
By Kickntrue on 7/18/09
Wow! After starting round 2 with all those bogies- I can't believe he fought his way back. After a strong start of day 3 he's slipped a bit, but is still in the lead.
Is he really going to pull this off? Of course it's still a LONG way off, but if he did (let's fantisize), where would it rank in all time major history?

right at the top, best links player of the modern era
I don't see him as the type of guy that's going to melt down. This is where experience is going to pay off huge. If he keeps putting like he has been it's going to be a fun final round to watch.
It would be #1a right next to Jack at the '86 Masters, the two kings of their respective courses/styles.
El Presidente says:
This is reason #427 why the OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP is, arguably, the most prestigious and exciting major in all of golf....go Tom go!
I would have to say this would trump Jack at Augusta! This would be incredible. At age 59!!! Way cool...
This would top Jack's '86 Masters by a huge margin. Still and all if any senior can do this at the Open it's Watson. This could be number 6!
An interesting twist- the R&A says players over 60 can't play in the open but a winner gets a 10 year exemption...
It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. I said it once and I'll say it again,,,,It would be AMAZING if he won!!!! I think he's actually going to pull it off, it's his tournament to lose at this point, and I just don't think he's going to choke because he's been there before. GO GET EM TOM!!!
Its going to be fun to watch tomorrow morning. Church pews across the US will be left empty.
I sure hope so!! Tom is a cool collected gentleman and should play in his favor tomorrow
He is playing exceptionaly well - But I have my doubts he will hold up today. It would be amazing though
UNREAL... I' on needles. I hate rooting against Westwood because he does deserve a moment like this, but this is just TOOO good.
