Special Olympics Record Broken
By Kickntrue on 8/5/09
Joel Murray from Louisiana broke the Special Olympics single round record for best score by carding a 73 yesterday. The previous record was a 75. Murray's performance was good enough to win the Level V 18-hole individual stroke play event of the 2009 Special Olympics Golf National Invitational Tournament despite a rough start to the 3-round event when he shot an 87. His second round 76 got him in contention and then he slammed the door on Kyle Bugge, a 22 year old Nebraskan with a pretty impressive golf resume.
Congrats to Joel on his win and to everyone else that participated!

I use to take care of Special needs adults, trust and believe there are plenty of athletes who will have to take it easy on you so you don't feel bad. and a 73, i could not hit a 73 even in my dreams. Good Job Joel and one day i hope to be as good as you.
thats a very cool thing, special olympics are awesome.....wonder what tees are used
@pipeliner- I'd guess the tips. Either way- I'm sure whatever tees the athletes were playing from was enough to clean up 99% of the people on oob.
^^^ probably right about 99% thing.....best ive shot is a 79
