Phil Mickelson to Design Course in North Carolina

Phil Mickelson will be designing a new golf course in western North Carolina. The project will be called RiverRock and "will be his mountain course," says his agent. He is only planning on designing about 10 courses total.

Masters champion Phil Mickelson has plans to design an 18-hole golf course in the mountains of western North Carolina, according to developers and the golfer's agent.

Mickelson, the world's fourth-ranked player, will help build a course on a 3,500-acre real estate development called RiverRock. The property is near Lake Glenville in Cashiers, a town about 50 miles southwest of Asheville.

"Phil is only going to design about 10 golf courses, and RiverRock will be his mountain course," said Tim Ummel, Mickelson's agent.
