Jack thinks Gary will do just fine.
Ready For A Nicklaus Return?
By Kickntrue on 9/15/09
Nicklaus is going to try to make a comeback to the PGA Tour... Gary Nicklaus that is.
Nicklaus maintained his PGA Tour card in 2000, but lost it in 2001 and was forced back to Q-School. In one of the most memorable Q-School finals that fall, golfGÇÖs first couple GÇô Jack and Barbara Nicklaus GÇô walked around Bear Lakes to cheer on Gary as he made it through alongside such names as medalist Pat Perez, Ty Tryon, Luke Donald, Boo Weekley, Ben Crane, John Senden, Peter Lonard, and Brett Wetterich.

Two years later, Gary Nicklaus left the PGA Tour and focused on working in the family business.
Gary almost had his first and only PGA Tour victory at the 2000 BellSouth Classic but lost in a rain-shortened playoff to Phil Mickelson. Nicklaus will have to battle with hundreds of other aspiring pros at the PGA Tour Q-School whose pre-qualifier kicks off next week. Nicklaus says he is now a better golfer than he was when he was on the PGA Tour.

I guess I'm rooting for him. No real reason to root against him, but I can't say I really feel a strong draw to him because of his father. Some of you may feel that way if you had a stronger tie to Jack, but to me it's more of just an interesting byline to a usually somewhat boring Q-School process. Q-School to me is much like minor league baseball. I realize the future stars could be playing there and I'd have a chance to get in on them early... but why? If they're any good and turn out to be great I'll just jump on the bandwagon a bit later.
