Best Hyperbole Ever!

Sports writers must have tough jobs. I get it- I mean, you're asked to make news everyday, but seriously, sometimes you've got to get a grip.
Golfweek's Sean Martin has an article he wrote this week that argues Phil Mickelson is better than he's ever been. ... umm ... am I missing something here? Are we talking about the same Mickelson who until his win at the Tour Championship was pretty much non-existent for the past 4 months? I know he had family stuff, and I'm not belittling that- in fact, I'm praising that. He had a reason to not be golfing and it's a good thing he was away, because if he was golfing, frankly, he'd be a certifiable ass to his family. Still- you can't then go write an article about how this is the best he's ever been and he'll challenge Tiger next year, blah blah blah.
He very well may challenge Tiger in 2010, but I just don't see how you can argue this victory does much for that at all. They are all about to take 4 months off from competitive golf. While this was a great way to finish the 2009 season, it has ZERO reflection on the landscape of 2010.
Lastly, and to be fair to Mr. Martin. His article isn't actually that bad. If anything you can blame the headline writer (editor?) who pulled one line out of his article and made it the lead. This rant was more a culmination of tv analysts and other articles I've heard preaching a similar story.
