Jonathan Brittain - Ace In Hand
Jonathan Brittain Can Have My Ace

Eat your heart out Rick Reilly. This is a golf story worth streaming tears, straight from the oobgolf community.
I wish I had a more in-depth description of the story- but this is really all you need. Thanks to Jeff Brittain for sharing the story- and our hearts and prayers go out to his son, Jonathan and his whole family.
I hope things are going well for you. Been a zainy week here. But, it ended awesome.
My son, Jonathan, had emergency brain surgery on this past Monday to repair a ventricular shunt that drains excessive fluid from his brain. They fail, without warning, necessitating brain surgery to repair. Unfortunately, and for no reason, his has failed 7 times. So, heGÇÖs 8 and has had 8 brain surgeries. HeGÇÖs doing awesome, post-op. We continue to pray that his sutures heal without infection and that the pressure normalizes in his head. WeGÇÖll know for sure in a few more days.
Being a golfer, and more importantly a father, I thought youGÇÖd enjoy the story below.
To me... heGÇÖs MY golfer of the week... and more.
I wanted to share with you what happened today. After the week our son Jonathan has had, itGÇÖs extra special to us.
Jonathan wanted to go play the Par 3 course here today. Benjamin & Jacob aren't too excited, but they go along with it. We go hit some balls and then move over to the par 3. All Jonathan wants to do is the "water hole." That's the 9th hole, 80 yards, island green.
We work our way through the holes. Jonathan skips a few holes and he's focused only on the 9th hole.
We finally get to the 9th hole. Jonathan tees it up.
6 days ago he's having brain surgery at this exact moment. Well...6 days after that, he's hitting a HOLE IN ONE!!! Makes me teary typing it. We all went crazy. It could be the best moment of my life. I've never been happier, I don't think. It was awesome. Everyone was going crazy. Unfortunately, we had the course to ourselves, so no one else saw it. But, in some ways, that made it even better. Me, my boys, a beautiful golf course and a hole in one. I'll never forget it.
IGÇÖve never had a hole in one and donGÇÖt really care if I ever do. I saw one today that I wasnGÇÖt sure IGÇÖd ever see. IGÇÖm fine withoutGǪ
I hope everyone has a great week!

Welcome to the club, Jonathan. Good luck.
Great story! Get that ball framed with the photo.
Thanks guys. He's a blessing. He has an identical twin, Jacob and an older brother, Benjamin. I'm blessed with three great sons. I'm proud of each of them independently and collectively. I've got to work hard to join the hole in one club!!! Keep it in the short grass...
WTG Jonathan!!!Hope you get more...
