Ike would play ANYWHERE!
World Golf HOF Inductions Today
By Kickntrue on 11/2/09
The World Golf Hall of Fame will welcome a new class today including it's first ever US President, Dwight Eisenhower.
Joining Eisenhower, who died March 28, 1969, as the newest members of the Hall will be 1977 PGA Championship winner Lanny Wadkins; two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal; and Christy O'Connor, who won 24 times on the European Tour.
Qualification for the golf Hall of Fame is probably the most ridiculous of any sport. You can get in while you're still playing if you qualify with merit, but with different standards depending on the Tour. The other way to get in is to be nominated and voted in, which is the more traditional way to enter a Hall of Fame.

Imagine if a sport like Baseball was based on pure statistical merit. There would be more of a mess than there currently is. It's hard to like a system where Vijay Singh is in before Maria Olazabal and Wadkins, and where Tiger has already qualified, he just has to be old enough, but the second he turns 45 (I think) he'll be inducted. Just seems weird. Let a guy finish is body of work and then be honored in a special way when he's done. I think that's why the 5 year rule works so great with other sports. We haven't forgotten Michael Jordan, but it wouldn't have been the same if he would've given his (incredibly arrogant) speech 5 years ago.

ANYWAY... Dwight Eisenhower is getting inducted. That's pretty cool.
