Rickie Fowler Could Join Elite Company

Young stud Rickie Fowler could join elite company with a high finish next weekend at the Children's Miracle Network Classic in Florida.
Fowler has only played in 2 PGA Tour events since turning pro but one of them was a playoff loss that earned him enough money to be close to the top 125 for the season, who are exempt for next year's PGA Tour schedule. Currently Fowler has earned $553,700 and needs to probably earn another $70k or so to get inside the top 125.
With a purse of $4.7 million up for grabs at Disney, Fowler will likely have to finish in the top 15 to have any hope of skipping Q school and cruising onto the Tour next year. Doing so would put him in rarefied air: the short list of guys who made it to the Tour without having to go through Q school includes Phil Mickelson, Justin Leonard and Tiger Woods — enviable company, indeed.Yah- not bad, especially for just 3 events. I'm not sure if any of those guys even pulled it off that quickly. I know I'll be rooting for him. The USA needs a young stud to compete with Danny Lee, Ryo Ishikawa and Rory McIlroy. I've been hearing about Fowler for years (despite that fact that he's only 20) and it'd be awesome to see him make this happen.

I like this kid. He plays quickly and can putt the lights out. He's got some distance control issues to work out w/ his irons, but he looks legit.
