Tiger's New House Opulent
By Kickntrue on 11/10/09
When your house can be confused for a hotel or resort from the air... you may have a big house.
Woods bought four adjacent properties on the tony island for a Martin County-record $44.5 million in 2006. He then tore down the existing homes on the 12 acres, including a classic-looking manse. The new 9,700-square-foot home is split between the living quarters and a gym. Both sides will be connected with a glass-covered walkway, according to the blue prints.
The funniest part about the blog I found this on though, is that the author is ripping it apart for being, "a cross between a discount motel and a beachside nursing home!" I'll admit, it's not the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, but it doesn't exactly look like a terrible place to live. He's got a beach on both sides and plenty of trees surrounding it.

You can click through for the pictures- I never know what is legal to post or not anymore- but let me know what you think. I could probably find a better way to spend $60M (including the price it took to buy the land), but if you have $1 Billion, who knows...?

You won't get any complaints from me. I would be quite happy in on tent on the "back forty" of the Woods residence. Just a thought IMHO

feraking hater! what a jealous punk he is the best golfer in the world, hot wife. bad ass house if you ask me. and its only a couple million to him no biggie.

It does look boxy; almost like a couple of barns stuck together. The concept of having the gym conected to the house by a glass walkway is pretty sweet, not to mention the location.

9,700 square ft.....It could look like a bag of smashed apples for all I care. That writer is clearly jealous cause he is still living in a 97 sq ft studio.

I'm sure the pictures don't do it justice... You are also seeing it while the property is still pretty tore up and with no landscaping, etc... It is a little post-contemporary for my tastes, but I'm sure I could get used to it! :)
LA Golfer says:
Actually, 9700 square feet is rather small considering it's on 12 acres and has all that extra cash laying around. Do you suppose he's leaving room for his kid/kids to play golf or race around in golf carts? LOL

Anyway, the size of the home shows he's more of a reasonable guy, not needing to show off much.
Lee Kuehner says:
I think to each his own, but it does come off looking like a facility a cult would build. Remember the Branch Davidian compound in Waco befor the ATF burned it to the ground or the spin off Mormon compound in West Texas thats still thriving. I would build a grand home with that kind of coin as well, though I wouldnt want my home looking like cult dorm buildings from the air.
Duke of Hazards says:
Clearly, he's been influenced by the frequent trips to Sweden to visit his wife's family ... looks like it was designed by IKEA... to be fair, it'll likely look a lot better once it's finished
Kurt the Knife says:
How much space does one person need? (OK three people)
The fella can play ball but I've lost respect for him.
That kind of consumption and waste is pathological.
