It's harder to miss a golf ball.
David Ortiz's Golf Tournament
By Kickntrue on 11/20/09
Watching David Ortiz swing a golf club may be worth paying the ridiculous sum of money it would cost to play in his charity golf event. Ortiz hosts an annual event in his home country, Dominican Republic each off season. Others expected to be in attendance include Torii Hunter, Alex Rodriguez, Pedro Martinez, Vladimir Guerrero, Clay Buchholz, Jason Varitek, Mike Lowell, Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester and Terry Francona. The money goes for pediatric care for Dominican children, a worthy charity in case you want to get involved in the auction.
As boring as baseball can be to watch, baseball players are great to go golfing with. They usually have great stories and they all have one thing in common; they try to KILL the ball. Think about it- they are paid millions to hit an object flying at them at 90mph that curves, cuts and breaks. You give them a stationary object on a tee and they think it looks like a beach ball, no matter how small it is.
One of my best friends plays pro ball and he just crushes the ball. I'm talking about 330 yard crushes. They don't always go straight, but they're always fun.
This promo is from last year- but you can see Big Papi go at it. Give him a couple weeks with Hank Haney and he could be dangerous.

Mickey Mantle was apparently pretty good at the game, and he crushed it too. here's a great article about it:
