Punxsutawney Phil Brings Good News
By Kickntrue on 2/2/07
I can't believe I'm leaving my future golf hopes up to a groundhog, but since I scraped a quarter-inch of freezing rain off my windshield this morning, I'm in for anything. Punxsutawney Phil couldn't see his shadow this morning (ironic that the overcast skies were due to the same weather that put ice on my car), which means winter only has 6 more weeks. I'm cleaning my clubs tonight!

A little background on Groundhog's Day...
Each February 2, thousands of people descend on Punxsutawney, a town of about 6,100 people about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, to celebrate what had essentially been a German superstition.

The Germans believed that if a hibernating animal cast a shadow on February 2 -- the Christian holiday of Candlemas -- winter would last another six weeks. If no shadow was seen, legend said spring would come early.
