WGC- Sweet 16!
By Kickntrue on 2/19/10
The WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship is down to 16- and I'm rooting hard for one outcome that will overshadow all of this Tiger non-sense; a win by Ryo Ishikawa. The young Japanese star took care of Ross McGowen yesterday and is a couple conceivable victories away from a weekend showdown. Sure, in match play, every match is "conceivably" winnable- but here is what he's up against:

Today: Thongchai Jaidee ...who?
Tomorrow: Ian Poulter or Jeev Milkha Singh in the Elite 8 match and maybe Sergio Garcia in the Final 4?
Sunday: There are 8 possible opponents for the final match but let's guess Paul Casey for an epic final 36 holes.

Likely? Well.. not really (about 1/16, right?). Still- it's what we should all be rooting for! All the number 1 seeds are gone, and this match play event is officially wide open.

How about Ishikawa vs. Cink? Or (just to see it in a headline) Allenby vs. Gay (say it without the "vs.")... some guy named Alan wouldn't be happy.
