I dunno...
Japanese golfer Ryo Ishikawa will miss the WGC-CA Championship to attend his high school graduation.

The 18-year-old Ishikawa will attend his graduation ceremony in Tokyo on Monday, leaving him little time to prepare for the event which starts Thursday in Miami.

Ishikawa, who won the Japanese tour's 2009 money title, is scheduled to play two other tournaments in Florida later this month, the Transitions Championship on March 18-21 and the March 25-28 Arnold Palmer Invitational.
I think if I was already a multi-millionaire with a schedule that made me a proxy-student anyway- I'd go ahead and just skip the graduation. I think playing Doral would be more than enough education for the weekend.

Graduation??? He don't need no stinking diploma!!!

IMHO it depends on how many good friends he has at school; it sounds like he has enough friends and teachers that it makes a difference to him. Besides, Ryo is so good (and still so young) that if he misses a WGC, it certainly will not stain his record. Good for him, I say.

For me, nearly all my trusted high school-era friends were at church, not school, which is why high school reunions for me are almost as attractive as a peanut butter-and-horseradish sauce sandwich.

He'll be able to play Doral next year. You only get one graduation. I didn't really like many people I went to high school with, but I still enjoyed the experience. I even have a couple funny stories from the ceremony.
