Easy Like A Sunday Morning

Ernie Els- where have you been? Welcome back!
They call him the Big Easy because of a graceful swing that looks as if it requires so little effort.

Two years without a victory -- the longest drought of his career -- and playing with all the pressure against a South African protege whom he helped groom for such a stage, Els played the final 23 holes without a bogey on TPC Blue Monster at Doral and closed with a 6-under 66 for a four-shot victory over Charl Schwartzel.

Els looked every bit like his nickname as he sauntered toward the 18th green, raising his cap to the crowd with an easy smile. It was as much relief as it was satisfaction.
I didn't catch any of the final round, but watched a couple hours on Saturday. Els looked in control the whole way. It really is a thing of beauty to watch him play wen he's on. Not only does he make it look easy for him, but he makes you wonder why you can't go out and do the same thing.

Ernie Els winning is very good for golf. He hasn't won in two years, yet this victory moved him to 8th in the world rankings. If we can get Phil winning (or just competing) before Tiger comes back, we could have a fun 2010!

Ditto - it's great to see that nice guys occasionally finish first. I will be really happy if he can repeat the result at Augusta National next month.
