Honoring Erica Blasberg
By Kickntrue on 5/12/10
I realize it's more fun to talk about burgers than death, but I think it's important to note some of the ways people are trying to honor the late Erica Blasberg this week.
The first tribute will take place at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic in Mobile, Alabama -- where Erica was scheduled to compete this week. We're told everyone in the tourney will don purple ribbons in honor of Erica.

Members of the women's golf team at the University of Arizona -- where Erica went to school -- will be wearing black ribbons at the National Championship Tournament in North Carolina later this month.

We've also learned Blasberg will be honored by the Vanderbilt University team -- where her former coach Greg Allen is now in charge. We're told Allen and his players will wear a patch bearing Blasberg's nickname, "Skip."
This whole thing is so sad. Everything points to suicide, except that her bags were packed as if she totally planned to make her appointment in Alabama this week. I can see why that would drive her dad crazy for a long time. So sad.

apparently she sent a text message early Sunday to the guy that was going to caddy for her saying she wasn't going to make it. this whole thing sounds so strange because the police are being so tight-lipped about it.

It makes no sense that she would pack her bags and then commit suicide. I'm almost willing to bet this will turn out to be murder. I agree with badcaddy about the police being tight lipped. There is a reason for that and its got to be something bad. If it were a simple suicide, they would have said so by now. Erica was a beautiful, VERY talented young lady and it is sad to have her gone so young.

I think all of us would offer our heartfelt condolences to the Blasberg family, along with her friends. The story IS rather incomplete...

This is a really sad story. I wonder what couldve been so bad that she decided to take the one way trip, though, like everyone is surmising, there's got to be more to the story because there's not much information out there.
