Tiger To Play Memorial

Tiger Woods is back, well sorta. He announced on his website he plans to defend his title next week in Ohio at the Memorial Tournament.
Tiger Woods will defend his title next week at the Memorial Tournament, marking his return to the PGA Tour after three weeks spent rehabbing a neck injury.

Woods withdrew from The Players Championship on May 9 with an inflamed facet joint in his neck. He confirmed on his website Wednesday he'll play next week at Muirfield Village in Ohio.
I can empathize a little with Tiger right now. Yea, he's a Jerk with a capital J. But he is having a rough time off the course as well as on the course. He just can't seem to get his life in order. That would be stressful for anyone.

If Tiger really wants to win over the female population, he needs to get on Oprah. If he can get her blessing, then it's game, set, match. Problem is, Oprah's show ends soon so he'll have to act quick!

all Tiger needs to do is WIN WIN WIN. bottom line. And you are right this is the worst year in his life i am almost sure of it. What ever happened to forgiveness? i forgive you Tiger, now just WIN dammit!

golf is just too mental. when you have other crap going on then it's hard to focus every shot.

Trip says:
I think golf is doing fine without him...

I still watch just as many tournaments on the weekends with or without Tiger... but I must admit; it's not always as exciting without Tiger in contention.

@banker85- maybe you should say summer's eve ;)

Swingem says:
Currently TWs a side-show. The PGA season is rolling nicely without him. He's running along side trying to get back on board, but keeps tripping over himself. It'll be interesting to see how things shake out at Memorial.

EloraBlue says:
I'm glad he's been out. At least now we get to see some other players who are also damn good. And banker; forgiveness? What about consequences for your actions?
5/28/10

mbills1015 says:
@elorablue -- I'm going to say consequences = losing your marriage, kids, sponsors, and semblence of a golf game... I'm sure there are more but those seem to be pretty big consequences.
5/28/10

Banker85 says:
elorablue: never said there are not consequences, but seems like forgiveness is not an option for Tiger. that was my point. well said mbills1015.

ElGalloGigante says:
I agree with mbills1015. What more do people want from him? He acted like a complete idiot and is now paying the price for doing so. He's still good for the game, because for those "few" that don't belong to a golf specific website where they can track their game (i.e. 98% of America), Woods' is the sole reason they'll watch a few holes of a tourney or tolerate the 15 seconds of Sports Center coverage allotted to golf.

Now who wants to go play some EA Sports KJ Choi Golf 2011!?

i will always respect comments made by other people unless they are blatantly dumb, but @Trip saying "I think golf is doing fine without him..." is not cool. of course the game goes on, but "fine?" just look at the ratings for the tournaments he played in. everyone was excited, for different reasons yes, but there was an excitement none the less. the game needs superstars. not need to go on, but need to grow. i would love to have Tiger playing more.

Ehh, i could live with or without tiger in the game. There's enough youth on tour to carry it on for at least another 20-30 years. I think i'd like to see Tiger break the records though. It's always exciting when someone goes crashing through barriers. that being said though, i think it's more exciting when he's NOT playing. At least then it's anyone's game. When Tiger is playing well and in the lead, he usually runs away with it. I can't get excited about who's playing for 2nd place. Tiger's on another level. Not really sure what sport he's playing but i'm convinced it's not golf. When he gets his game back it'll definitely make for some high revenue for the tour. People will be out to see him hit the long ball and play crazy ass shots from wherever. On a side note, it seems like he played better when he had a goatee. I dont' know why he shaved it. Kind of looks better with it. He might be ripped hardcore, but dude, you have a weak/fat chin. Cover it up dude.

Good for the game? Damn Right he is! Has anyone looked at the ropes when Tiger is not in the field? Last weeks tournament looked like a Euro event with all of the no shows. HURRY BACK TIGER!!!!!

Banker where do you get off with the name calling. You have your opinion, We have ours. Youre probably an Obama supporter too.
5/29/10

coojofresh says:
your probably a republican lol. what does Obama have to do with this? the world would be better off without political parties, but it is what it is.

Banker85 says:
i did vote for Obama. You are right, my opinion from your comment is your a douche. sorry to hurt your feelings on an online blog post. really.

"Youre probably an Obama supporter too."

Why do you hate America so much, Merlin? You must want the troops to die.

Banker85 says:
i hide my scores so just incase my boss finds this website he doesnt see when i golf during the week and should be in the office. Wanna be my friend Merlin then you can see my scores, i will show you mine if you show me yours. FAG.

falcon50driver says:
So you steal from your company too, not surprising. I've been on this website since there were only 35 people on the leaderboard, and you are the first to try and drag it down to your level. No one but you ever uses foul language or attacks others that I've seen. I'm sure Andrew and Kevin will not be pleased to give you an anonymous forum to spew your hate much longer.

coojofresh says:
lol @ banker and a non-lol @ merlin name dropping is lame bro. go Tiger!

Tim Horan says:
Just watched the coverage of day one - as expected USA TV is showing very little of anyone other than Tiger and he's not even threatening the leaders!
6/4/10

ElGalloGigante says:
@ Merlin2Driver - you do realize it didn't take much effort on Banker85's part to "drag it down to [his] level," right? You're very first reply to him was a slight at, I'm sure, more than a few oobers.

Now play nice, ya'll.

falcon50driver says:
First of all, let me apologize for saying "Ditto" to Trip's comment that he thought golf was doing fine without Tiger. That was so insensitive of me to have an opinion, I deserved to be called a douchebag and a FAG for that. EloraBlue, maybe WE are wrong that a person should should be responsible for their actions, who knows. Tim Horan, how can you be so negative about the TV coverage, after all he is the Messiah, We need to get on board..... Seriously though, I appreciate all you guys and love reading OOBGOLF every day, even before the national news, and never intended to slight anyone....I'm Done... ElGalloGigante, I'll try to play nice. I fly into San Antonio at least once a month and always try to get a round in. I used to go to Brackenridge Park all the time, but the last time, they were closed for remodeling, I think. Do you know if it is open again? Would you like to get together to play the Quarry?
6/4/10

ElGalloGigante says:
@ Merlin2Driver - Brackenridge is open and although I haven't played it yet, I live up against the 11th, so I play that, the 12th, and 13th frequently after the last group has passed through. Drop me a line here when you're heading my direction and we can play either course.

Warning: Do check out my scores though, I've only been at this for month.
6/4/10

coojofresh says:
@ Tim of course all they did was show Tiger lol. he draws the crowds. the next day they showed Phil. mainly because one play late the fist day and one play late the second. know production times my man.
@merlin if you are perfect left me know. why does his personal life concern everyone so much? i just love seeing him play golf. i don't care what he does off of it. nice reply though merlin. very tactful.
