Golfsmith Is At It Again
By Kickntrue on 6/1/10
After Golfsmith customers were able to cash in on Phil Mickelson's Masters win- Golfsmith is back at it for the US Open.
How it works : If Your Pick Wins the U.S. Open, Your TaylorMade Driver Is FREE!So what has changed? It's still only open to store only, and the no purchase necessary details don't even exist online. You actually need to visit the store to sign up for that option. Also new is the "10,000" number. I wonder if the insurance company made them add that after the Masters? Also- the choices?! Maybe the insurance company insisted on that too. A has-been, never-been, and a nobody! Good luck!
At any rate- if someone who does have a Golfsmith close wants to contact me via Private Message so they can go sign me up- that'd be great!

ya seriously those picks are weak!
i'm curious about the no purchase necessary. ...
Once a company gets burned like Golfsmith did with Phil, they always have to up the ante to get the insurance again. A local furniture store got burned a few years ago with the Red Sox winning the world series. They're doing a similar giveaway this year, but they put a sign in center field, and if a Sox player hits it, you're stuff is free. Nobody is going to hit the sign, but people will go buy stuff from them, just in case.
It's just like a lottery pool at the office. You never want to be the only guy that didn't put in a dollar, because someday it could be your office's ticket that wins, and you would be the only one there the next day. Nobody wants that.
Taylormade's tour staff is weak sauce. They only have one guy in the top 20 and he (Goosen) is #18.
If they actually wanted to enourage people to purchase a driver based on the promotion, they should give buyers the whole stable of Taylormade players.
If I were going to buy a Talyormade driver (which I'm not) I guess I'd go with O'Hair.
For the Masters, wasn't Golfsmith's only option for winning Phil Mickelson?
Their safe this time.
