Guess Who's Back?!
By Kickntrue on 6/3/10
Rain has delayed the start of The Memorial. Good news- you may actually get home in time to see the end of El Tigre's round.

It'll certainly be interesting to see how he does. He's won this tourney 4 out of 10 times he's played it, but based on everything that's happened this year- he can't possibly be the favorite... can he?

it's getting to be horrible. I was watching golf central and all they could talk about is "tiger's back" because of how he shot on 9 holes in the skins game. No pressure, 9 holes. It's not tournament golf. We'll see how he does during the tournament. I watched him miss a 6 footer by like 2 feet. That doesn't really seem to Tiger-ly. Maybe Tiger Lily. If he contends, i'll be impressed. If he wins, i'll entertain the idea that he might actually be back to form.

I'm with birdieXris. Until Tiger is in serious contention or wins one of these things, I'm not entertaining the thought of him actually being back.

I am rooting for him, though.

I hate to admit that I am rooting for him a bit as well. To watch the guy come back from this would be pretty exciting.

birdiexris, to be fair though, all of those guys missed badly on some of those putts. Stricker ran a 25 foot eagle putt past the hole by about 20 feet. Tiger did play decent yesterday, in terms of ball striking and hitting fairways. But I agree that it says nothing about his chances to compete in a four-day tournament with pressure.

@bplewis24 - i'll give him that, but tiger being tiger means he doesn't do what everyone else does. That's what makes him special, supposedly, and not just another one of the guys.

ya ok birdiexris... I cannot stand Tiger haters. People say they dont want him to play cause he dominates. But on the same side they say he sucks now so who cares. If he is not god like Tiger we know from previous years shouldnt that create more competition? Either way i hope he wins by 15 strokes and destroys the field. BOOM!

What about Tiger's Post Haney Swing? Looked like he's standing closer and swinging a little more upright.

@ dpoimboeuf - True his good shots do look that way. His misses seem to be with his old swing. A couple of times in the coverage they looked at tiger's misses and at the top he was way too flat. He's also been dipping his head again by about 2 inches! I think he's swinging angry and trying to get a little too much out of himself right now.

In other news, i don't feel AS bad about my 80 at broad run a few weeks ago. Tiger hit a sprinkler head too yesterday... though his ball wasn't lost in the woods after.

I rarely watch golf on TV so I don't understand some of the things that go on. I did, however, catch the tail end of the skins game. I saw that there was a chip off between all the players for the last 4 skins on the team that Zach Johnson was on. I saw that they each got a chance to try to get it close to the pin, but no one actually holed out. I know it was all for charity anyway, but why didn't the other players take another stroke, Was that the object, just see who got the closest?

mjaber says:
@m2d... yes... in a skins game chip off (at least the couple I've seen on TV), it's a simple "closest to the pin" contest to see who gets the remaining skins if no one wins the final hole. Of course, if you do hole it, someone else has to hole to have another chip contest.
