A Free Wedge A Day Keeps The Yips Away
By Kickntrue on 7/21/10
Okay... maybe not- but free is free, and Boccieri Golf is giving away one of their new Heavy Wedges every day for the next 60 days!
Open to residents of the continental U.S., the giveaway includes all shipping costs, with complete details available on the contest entry page.

“We’re so confident the Heavy Wedge will immediately help any golfer’s short game that we’re letting dozens of consumers nationwide play it for free,” says Stephen Boccieri, President and CEO of Boccieri Golf. “Our unique, counter-weighting technology is the key to enhanced swing control and reliability which have a remarkable impact on scores.”

Introduced earlier this year, the Heavy Wedge is a traditionally designed blade with a head mass only slightly heavier than a conventional wedge. It is available in a variety of lofts including 52 (8 degree bounce), 56 (11 degree bounce) and 60 (4 and 7 degrees of bounce).

The added weight in the Heavy Wedge (65 grams) is positioned in the butt of the shaft, raising the club’s balance point by nearly 40 percent. This promotes distance control, an improved swing path, tighter shot dispersion, acceleration through impact, smoother tempo and unparalleled feel.
Boccieri sent me a Heavy Wedge sample, plus I had a chance to hit one at the PGA Show back in January. From picking up the wedge, I thought it was a bit gimmicky, but great for chips and pitches. I took a couple full swings and was very impressed, though. I thought maybe the weight would make a full swing awkward but it really wasn't. The only negative I could say at all- and it's really coming from a golf pro 3rd party more so than me- is that with it being heavier than every other club in your bag it could screw up your feel and swing weight, especially if you're the kind of person who likes to hit multiple shots around the green with different clubs.

You should know this about Boccieri Golf. That is the same company who makes Heavy Putter and the founder is a former scientist who can prove that both the Heavy Putters and Heavy Wedges are better for your game. I'm not about to go head to head with a scientist, and who am I to argue with free?!

Just might be the thing I need around the green and a 56* would be a good thing..

I wish somebody had a hi-bred give away!

time to replace the gap wedge! yay!
Bryan K says:
Would the heavier clubhead not result in a longer shot? That's not exactly what I'm looking for in my wedges. Don't get me wrong. I'd certainly like to play an Eidelon or a Vokey, but I'm kind of in love with the wedges I have now particularly because I love how light they are.

I wonder if they will customize the wedge for you. EX: GW 51 degrees with graphite regular shaft. I hope so.
backspinz says:
i have a heavy putter and love it. if these wedges perform half as well, they're going to sell a lot of them.
