Tiger Sucks!
By Kickntrue on 8/6/10
I heard a couple people picking Tiger Woods to win this week at the Bridgestone Invitational. Frankly, the way he's been playing you'd have to be an idiot to think he even had a chance! I don't care what his history and lifetime stats are, the fact is- his whole game is messed up currently, with no end in site to a fix! He's an average pro golfer at best! He may actually finish dead last this week, and for that statement to be made without exaggeration is pretty remarkable.

Corey Pavin should strongly considering not picking him for the Ryder Cup and anyone who puts money on Tiger to win is throwing away dough.

Update-
This should have been mentioned- but was omitted originally. If Tiger finishes worse than 37th (likely) and Phil better than 4th (very possible), Phil will take over the number 1 spot in the world rankings. Lee Westwood also has a shot to take over number 1, with all scenarios becoming more likely as Tiger continues to struggle. I think this wasn't that hyped because even with his struggles I'm not sure people really thought Tiger would finish worth than 37th in an event he always wins. Idiots! :)

Thankfully for him, it's a no-cut event. Tiger doesn't want to be picked for the Ryder cup either. His cocky answers at the press conference earlier in the week say that much. "i'm planning on playing my way onto the team". He's cocky, but smart. At least he knows that if he's picked and doesn't perform it's going to just add more bricks to the sack on his back. He'll never live that down. He's really having a hard time at it. I almost feel sorry for him.

almost.

I couldn't agree with you more, but I may have said it differently.

I've had the privilege of watching Tiger's career progress from Amateur to where he is today and have enjoyed every minute along the way. However, the tides have changed and Tiger's up the creek without a paddle.

Honestly, at this point in time, he is in serious jeopardy of not beating Jack's record

His head is a mess, his swing is even worse, the media is manhandling him, he's lost his killer instinct, and worst of all (for him) the other players on the tour are no longer intimidated by his presence. Even if he's Top 10 on Sunday, unlike the days of old, the other players don't crumble under his pressure.

The man needs to do a little more soul searching and get himself another Butch Harmon

just wait until the divorce is final, then he'll be back. not in 2000-2001 form, but enough to at least tie Jack's record.

Tiger shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath with Jack. They are worlds apart. Jack is the complete package, not JUST a good golfer.

Of course he's not a sure bet to win anything these days, but if you had to put money on one person? Many would pick Tiger. I would, and I doubt he'll come close to winning. I just doubt everyone else even more. It's anybody's game out there.

My thoughts on Tiger: He is too smart to suck without some kind of plan... He lost a good amount of his money and a large amount of support from his fans. So he needs to play horrible for the rest of this year and get sympathy from everyone. Then come back and dominate the Masters ala 1997 and gain support like he did that started Tiger Mania. And in an effort to take care of his financial problems prior to the Masters Tiger will be 20-1 to win and he will put 20 million on himself and then the world will be right again...

Yeh, anyone's game, but NOT Tiger's. Ohh, Ohh, he's improving today only plus 2 and 13 shots back of the lead. That's 2 better than yesterday. He can do it. Tied for 74th place out of a field of 81. He can do it! He can do it!
It wouldn't suprise me if Tiger developes a sore neck tonight or tommorow. Oh, ya, he's used that excuse already.
Next thing you know Golf Channel will start a contest to select an amateur to play with 3 celebrity. Then they'll follow a week behide Tiger's tournament play to see if they can beat his scores.

The only thing he can do is to win majors along with some notable tourneys. Nothing else will bring him back to glory and a positive light in the media and fans eyes.

My, my, my, I guess the band wagon must have left the station. You morons that think because Tiger is struggling right now that it's going to continue to the point that he won't approach Jacks record, you guys are even dumber than I thought. I'm not saying what he did was right, but you morons should try going thru the crap he's going thru (albeit self inflicted) and see if your head isn't messed up to the point at where you can't concentrate. Tiger will be back, and kicking the crap out of all you nay sayers. AND, please continue to be nay sayers when he's back to form. They don't call him one of the best for no reason.

BTW, I played with his niece (Taylor Woods) last week, she's going to be really good some day. Watch out LPGA, here comes the female version of Tiger.

I am not so quick to declare that Tiger Woods sucks. Having been entertained by watching so many of his tournament wins and thrilling shots I am going to show a little bit of loyalty to Woods the golfer. He is in a major slump and to judge a golfer's ability based on 3/4 of one PGA TOUR season is totally harsh and everyone here knows that deep down. Golf is a tough game, we should know that better than anyone. It is a bit weird seeing all of the glee at Woods' downfall. I've only been into golf for six years but I understand that golf isn't really a game where you root against golfers. Some people do I guess, whether its elite pro's or their own opponent in a small time money game at their local course.

i'm so tired on number one golfer talk. that world golf ranking is stupid anyway. the FedEx cup point system is better to me then that crap. Ernie Els is the business right now IMO. tiger is still great, no matter what he is doing now. he still has his history and the potential he could figure out what he is doing wrong. all this "he has lost it" and "Tiger sucks" talk is for the birds.

coojofresh says:
@ merlin2driver unless you are Jack's BFF you don't know bananas about what Jack has done in his life. the media is a million times worse than in Jack's time. so give it a rest with that he is a better man crap. everyone has their closet of bones.

jbird2011 says:
It makes me laugh when people bash Tiger. He is the main reason why golf is finally a "cool" sport. Are people tuning in to see Lee Westwood? I doubt it! You know why players want to see him back to his usual form? Because without him in the field, most people don't really care and they would make less money. If Tiger fades, so does the public's interest in golf.

Westwood has pulled out with a bad calf muscle...something he's been fighting for a while. He will also not be playing the PGA but instead take 6 or so weeks off like he's been told to do for the last couple of months.

Tiger is sucking it up this weekend, but to say he has lost it, he wont even approach jacks record... really you can predict the future? wow thats amazing! You dont go dominating a sport for over a decade to being a schumck over nite. Tiger will be back mark my words!

I think Tiger has confidence issues. Ever since the PGA last year, he doesn't seem to have the same killer instinct that he had berfore Yang caught him in the final round of a major. After seeing some of his round today, I wonder if he wouldn't be better off taking the rest of the year off to get his head (and his swing) straight.

"I think he is a piece of shit for what he did to his family but geez! he was and still an phenomenal player." Let's play mad-libs! "I think Roman Polanski is a piece of shit for drugging and raping a 13-year old but geez he was and still is a phenominal director." Terrible decisions by humans are going to be hard to justify or be looked past by comparing their skill in area of their expertise.

Not sure what a BFF is but I do believe you are mistaken in the comment that EVERYONE has a skeleton in the closet. I still have faith that the majority of people in this country are honest despite what Hollywood tries to promote.

TeT says:
Skeleton maybe maybe not, but nobody is perfect ....

I would bet against tiger having confidence issues, regardless of the situation a divorce still brings on mass amounts of stress. I would bet against him being back in TOP form again until this time next year at the earliest. He hasnt been in top form since he blew his knee out 3 seasons ago. Hes not done and I wanna see him and phil dual it out for a couple of years...

Jack's closet is pretty darn clean, even his children are squeaky clean. They could have easily become brats, I have met Jack II and Gary and both were very humble and genuinely nice. That speaks volumes in today's "it's all about me" world.

What impresses me most about Jack, he had so many second place finishes and never threw temper tantrums on the course when things were not going his way. I can't say the same about Tiger.

I do think Tiger will beat Jack's record. But I would much rather play with folks that behave more like Jack than Tiger. We all know the type; excessive celebration when they make a clutch shot, and club throwing when they miss.

svj says:
i agree with coojofresh, im not trying to disrespect jack and everything he has done in golf, but my god that dude is just dry. golf needs someone, that can relate with the weekend golfer. i been watching golf for 20 years now and all i have gotten has been boo weekley..

BigDoctorJ says:
"We all know the type; excessive celebration when they make a clutch shot, and club throwing when they miss." - Really? That is what makes him SO electric! That's why people watch him, because he MAKES those clutch shots and both HE AND THE CROWD celebrate excessively

BigDoctorJ says:
Tiger may be playing the worste he ever has but you all have to give credit where it is due. He is STILL the best active player in the history of Golf. Also, isn't it funny that he is still #1? That's how great he is, he can be off almost all year and still retain that spot. Gotta mean something
8/10/10

Matt F says:
@BigDoctorJ - It means that the way the rankings work is wrong. Why do they use the last 2 years, instead of just the current year? Personally, I think it should be determined by the money list. If you're sitting at the top of that list, you must be doing something right.
8/10/10

wrhall02 says:
@BigDoctorJ....that's what excites you about Tiger, not me. I find it obnoxious to be fist pumping with a 5 shot lead, and tossing clubs and dropping f-bombs when he is out of a tourney.

I would rather play with a Jack-like player than a Tiger-like player any day. Same killer instinct but without the fist pumps and narcissistic theatrics.

No arguments from me about Tiger being the best golfer to date, he is an awesome golf talent. I have no doubt he will amaze the golf industry for years to come.

Exactly... everyone has their skeletons. The difference is that ours aren't on tv all day. What Tiger has done is NONE of our business and it shouldn't even be on tv. If you don't like his actions that's fine, stop buying Nike. I mean WHO CARES? You don't know Tiger personally and your certainly not his friend. Leave the man alone and let him get straightened out. I find it funny how people feel like he has let everyone down. The only people that he has let down are himself and his family. If you don't like Tiger then change the station, it's as easy as that. It's his business not ours. People will say "but he is a role model for kids", don't you think it's time for parents, coaches, and teachers to be the role model instead of sports athletes. Haven't we seen how pro athletes act(NFL anyone)? How about turn off the tv and go golfing with your kid instead watching golf? It's more fun anyways!

andywright86 says:
As for him never reaching Jacks records that remains to be seen. He was/is an incredible golfer and arguably the best ever. I think it's foolish to throw him under the bus because he is in a slump. No one is perfect all the time and I don't think it was a fluke that he's won as much as he has. You aren't that good for that long and then suddenly forget how to play forever. He'll come around and when he does it will be fun to watch. I can't wait to see all the people and sponsors come running back to him in a year or two when he starts dominating everyone again.

Sorry about the rant, but hearing about Tiger all day is getting as old as the Farve saga!
