Erica Blasberg's Death Ruled Suicide
By Kickntrue on 8/25/10
Late LPGA Golfer Erica Blasberg's death was officially ruled a suicide yesterday, after months of quiet. Things are still weird.
Blasberg was just 25 when she was found dead in her Henderson, Nev. home. Years of struggling to stay on the Tour, and descriptions of her as a loner led us to speculate that this was a young woman battling some demons.

Today, the Clark County coroner ruled her death a suicide, reporting that she was found with a plastic bag over her head, and deadly levels of prescription drugs in her system.

...

A Dr. Thomas Hess was under investigation, and though he was never officially considered a suspect, police raided his home and office looking for Xanax, which were found in Blasberg's system. Now Hess has been charged with obstruction of justice, after removing a suicide note and prescription drugs from the scene.

We've heard whispers that the two were in a romantic relationship, so it could be a case of a man trying to protect the reputation of someone close. But more sinister is his MD, and the prospect that the numerous prescription drugs found in her body were obtained illicitly.
Terrible, terrible, terrible. Hopefully the Blasberg family can start to put them behind them and move on with their lives. Obviously they'll never forget, but maybe some closure can come from this. I have no clue if these findings are better or worse than foul play in the grieving process but in the end, the family still has to deal with the fact their their baby is no longer with them. That I still can't comprehend, but can imagine, and it's not fun.

How awful, dont understand how someone could do that. She was a very cute, and i am sure had plenty of talent. To end your own life at such a young age is tragic. I am 25 and would never ever consider doing something like that and my life is not the best. Golf has probably been my savior, no joke. i used to do some stuff i am not proud of, lets just say i would rather be addicted to golf than drugs.

Having been diagnosed with depression, you are very correct @Bryan. It is a terrible disease, but properly monitored and controlled with medication, it is manageable. I was very saddened to hear about this - she seemed to have everything going for her - looks, talent. However, as our Pastor always says, "You don't know how much people are hurting"....May God have taken Erica into His loving arms and hold her!!!

I think the fac that this was a suicide makes this story even sadder. This is just a very sad thing that didnt have to happen. And what about her doctor that removed all the evidence?? How stupid is this guy?
