Virtual Ryder Cup Begins On WGT.com
By Kickntrue on 9/15/10
World Golf Tour has launched their Virtual Ryder Cup today! If you're into golf games- you should probably check it out. World Golf Tour (WGT.com) spends millions on mapping top golf courses in meticulous detail, giving golf fans the chance to "play" the courses in a realistic fashion. Unlike say, EA Sports Tiger Woods franchise, the World Golf Tour game focuses on realism. It's a bit frustrating not to be able to hit a drive 330 yards, but it does give you a taste of how you'd really do... which is badly. Of course- you're still better off, because it's a lot easier to click a mouse perfectly than swing perfectly, so I promise your score will be a ton better- almost like your ideal round!
So- The Celtic Manor Twenty Ten Course has been mapped- and 9 of the best holes are available for play as today WGT launched their Virtual Ryder Cup. By playing you automatically enter the Grand Prize contest to win a trip for 4 to play 3 rounds of amazing golf in South Wales, including a round on this year's Ryder Cup course. There are other prizes along the way for top performers. My only real beef- is that it's an individual game, instead of a team format, but I suppose that would've been a bit tricky to pull off, and would've limited play significantly.
Anyway- I've been a big fan of WGT.com for some time now- and this is another example of why!

Very cool. I don't like the ability to not be able to work shots though. :( that would come in really handy to be able to hit a draw instead of just a pull
It was a shitty day when my office blocked WGT. They expect us to work the WHOLE day - garbage, absolute garbage.
I am with you on that carv712. Looks like I will just have to sneak out and actually play a round today.
Been playing this game for awhile. I actually like it more than Tiger Woods Live. Simple, straight forward and works faster on the comp. Wouldn't it be cool to be able to upload your own player using oob stats and play of virtual courses around the world?
Cool! Been playing it too for some time, hopefully it'll be a bit easier to control than the British open some weeks ago though...
