First Session Ryder Cup Teams Announced
By mustang6560 on 9/30/10
The opening round lineups were announced Friday morning and it’s no big surprise Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are featured. With no further delay, here are the lineups for the first session.
2:45 AM EST - Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson vs. Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer
3:00 AM EST - Steward Cink and Matt Kuchar vs. Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell
3:15 AM EST - Steve Stricker and Tiger Woods vs. Ian Pulter and Ross Fisher
3:30 AM EST - Bubba Watson and Jeff Overton vs. Luke Donald and Padraig Harrington
The top two players in the world were expected to participate in the first session at Celtic Manor, but it came as a surprise -- especially to European captain Colin Montgomerie -- that two premier players in Furyk and Mahan will watch the opening session.I understand somebody has to sit out each match; however, I am a little surprised it was Jim Furyk and Hunter Mahan. Furyk is coming off a great swing of momentum after winning at East Lake and taking home the $10 million FedExCup trophy. And Mahan played great at the Ryder Cup at Valhalla two years ago and won all five events he played.
What do y’all think? Which match-up do you look forward to the most?

I'm surprised the Molinari bros. aren't playing...
I am excited. I'm debating about getting up to watch it live tomorrow morning.
Kurt the Knife says:
I saw Stricker and Woods play at President's cup last year.
They seemed to have a rapport of sorts.
I think that duo against the brit pair will be interesting.
I think the Phil-DJ matchup could be fun to watch. I forget, is morning alt shot? If so, could there be holes where DJ puts a drive so Phil can use his short game prowess?
I wonder about the Phil/DJ pairing. Phil's got a bit of an ego. How is he going to handle being outdriven?
@cjgiant... Morning is Fourball.
Does anyone realize that Stewart Cink uses oobgolf. SC10 is his user name. He has had a great year. I think that is pretty cool a pro uses this site like we do, Even if he takes advantage of the free part of it.
sorry to burst your bubble but that isn't stewart cink.
I guess someone else could be entering his rounds in as a joke I guess. That's weird thou. All his scores match his rounds he has played in tour events from the Major at Whistlinng Straits to this past weekend.
I picked up on the fact that the scores and courses matched a few weeks ago. I suspect that someone else is entering them out of curiosity. Maybe someone who knows him.
