Tiger's Dubai Course
By Kickntrue on 11/29/10
Remember all that hoopla about Tiger Woods' first course design in Dubai? You certainly cannot be blamed if this is the first you've thought of it in a couple years. It wasn't just Tiger's past 12 months that have made it seem like an afterthought. The state of the global economy actually caught up with it first.
"The Tiger Woods Dubai: a dust-bowl, an empty car park, an 'Arabian palace' as real as a Hollywood film set," Donegan writes. "Like so much else in post-boom Dubai, the palace is a facade, propped up by wooden beams. Behind it lies a collection of portable cabins that in the glory days of the economic boom served as a sales office. These days the salesmen have gone, to be replaced by a handful of cleaners and maintenance staff trying to keep alive what is left of the $1.1bn fantasy."A decision will supposedly be made in February to decide whether or not to scrap the project. I hope Tiger got paid up front! I'm guessing Elin's already spending that dough.
