Pinehurst #2 Getting US Open Makeover
By Kickntrue on 2/8/11
Famed Pinehurst #2 is currently being redesigned by Bill Coore, Ben Crenshaw and team. The first pictures are out- and it looks amazing! The basic idea behind the redesign was to return to the course more to its roots- with giant waste bunkers and yielding to the natural lay of the land. Of course- when you're trying to have a course reflect "the lay of the land" there is no better people to call than Coore and Crenshaw (Bandon Trails, Lost Farm at Barnbougle Dunes, Sand Hills Golf Club to name a few).

A new website launched this week - www.pinehurstnumber2.com which shows the progress being made at the course. Below are two short videos showing the drastic changes on holes #12 and #13. Assuming these are an indication of what is to come- I'm pumped! This will certainly make the 2014 US Open- slated to be played at Pinehurst #2 much more interesting.

Looks like the changes will really penalize you if you miss the fairway.
