Sean's Got Tiger's Back
By mustang6560 on 3/9/11
The only person who is more frustrated about Tiger's swing than Tiger is Sean Foley.
As Tiger's new swing coach, he's been taking shots in the media from some of golf's loudest voices (Brandel Chamblee). Just last week, Lee Trevino indirectly criticized Sean Foley and Tiger's decision to hire him.
But Sean Foley isn't just taking the heat. He's pushing back.
"They don’t know the truth," Foley said in the interview. "They don’t even have a clue. They just wait until he hits one to the right, then put it on the bizhub (a slow-motion camera) and slow it down. But he might not have committed to the club. He might not have trusted where the wind is and so on."Good for Sean Foley.
What people need to remember is Tiger is in this for the long haul. He's not rebuilding his swing for incremental victories. He's "rebuilding" his swing so when he's ready, he can be dominate again. Do you think he's really concerned about winning the Chevron World Challenge? I don't.
I'm glad to see Sean is sticking up for his student and for his style of coaching. My question for Brandel, are you going to be a hater your whole life?

i love this comment from Foley.
“Brandel Chamblee made 180 out of 398 cuts on the PGA Tour (in his playing days). Like, when did this become so easy for him? That’s like 43 per cent. You’re talking about a guy (Woods) who’s missed six cuts in his life. It’s just sensational. That’s what they do.”
"absolutely probably" - Sean should become a politician if this golf thing does not work out.
all the talking heads on golf channel are failed golfers with big mouths
Kurt the Knife says:
what I hate about critics:
They create nothing. Only blab about what has already been done or imagined.
About time someone prominent called out that Chamblee douche. I'm just a casual golf channel viewer but its so obvious that this man has gotten way too comfortable on his high horse having sat there for so long doling out judgments and criticisms. Everything's so simple the way he describes it. Who exactly is encouraging this guy? He's getting carried away with himself to the point where its comedy. Chamblee is the archetypal annoying country club douche. To put it crudely he is Johnny Miller without the cred,
I am not a Tiger fan nor am I a Tiger hater; I could care less what he does in his personal life. I only care to watch a great golfer do his job. If there is one person that can beat all the records, it is Tiger. I would like to see that happen in my life time. I say quit with the hate and let’s hope he can get back to where he was or even better.
@JTW1: well said. why do people want to watch him fail? i will relish the day Tiger breaks jacks record, not becasue of all the naysayers and Tiger haters, but becasue it will be an awesome feat to watch and feel like i am a part of history. i will never forget Tiger's win at the 08' US OPEN and i will never forget when he wins his 19th Major.
AS for Chamblee he is the douche of all douches' i cannot stand him, he is the worse worse critic/commentator/analyst in all of golf hands down.
I dont understand why he hates Sean Foley so much but he makes it so clear anytime he speaks of him. I dont understand what people have against Foley, i like the idea (if i am even right not sure??) behind his swing methods, teachings whatever. It seems he is a very Bright guy and is suing science and math or logical thinkning in the mechanics of the golf swing. ya butch is great Haney is too, but why were they so much better? Tiger made Haney who he is. Butch got Tiger a lot of wins but his swing was so detrimental on Tigers knees thats the reason for all his surguries. Sean seems like a good man a man of faith so i beleive his faith in Tiger will be one of the reasons for tigers resurgence back to the top, whenever that time comes. Hopefully soon.
I'll take Chamblee's commentary for what its worth, an opinion, we're all entitled to one, and Chamblee gets paid for his. With all due respect to TW and his past achievements, I'm not a fan and hope he's not the guy to break Jack's major win record. In my opinion, I think TW's body is running up against the physical stress of a lifetime spent playing competitive golf, as well as the unavoidable changes that happen as we age ( I'm sure many of us can relate ). On top of the physical challenges are the mental challenges of coming to terms with the fact that he was a primadonna (albeit supremely skilled) a-hole of poor character, that the younger generation has taken their place on stage, and that his act and game may no longer be relevant. With his Ghandi Guru musings, perhaps Foley is the guy who can resurect the ghost of TW past.
"Dominate"? No, it's not ever going to be like it was. He will win, no doubt. But the days of domination are long over.
