Husband, Wife Get Aces
By mustang6560 on 3/11/11
This one is a gem.

A couple in Texas both record an ace during the same round at a course near Houston.
Karen aced the par-3 11th hole, from 82 yards with a pitching wedge. It was her first hole-in-one. Three holes later, Joe followed suit with a 7-iron from 131 yards on the 14th hole. It was his second career ace.

He finished with an 83, and she shot 95. A second couple was with them to witness the golf oddity.
The only thing that could have made this story better was if the husband and wife aced the same hole.

According to Golf Digest Clearinghouse, the odds of two family members making a hole in one during the same round is 17 million to 1. But, what are the odds of the two family members hitting an ace in the same round on the same hole? That's got to be at least double- so maybe 35 million to 1?

I'm still waiting for my first career ace. The closest I've come is 18 inches.

Had one rattle the hole this last week. The players leaving the green said it almost went in on the fly.

Been there Kurt - did it last year from about 12" lipped out and tapped for par.

I had a streak last fall where I was within 16 inches or closer on 4 different par 3's ranging from about 157 to 212yds in about the span of week. (One was off the flag stick, witnessed by the ranger and another bit-up short to with about 4 inches!) This happened of course, after telling the guys I was playing with that I've never eagle'd or even been very close of a Par 3.
