The Masters iPad App
By mustang6560 on 3/30/11
I'm not sure what percentage of oobers have an iPad. But, for some reason, oobgolfers strike me as intelligent individuals who enjoy their gadgets.
The reason I bring this up is because there is a new app for the iPad for The Masters that came out yesterday. The app is everything you would expect from The Masters. It's expertly designed, beautifully manicured and because it's on the iPad, it's visually stunning. And the best part is it's only $1.99!
The app includes a live channel, which will allow users to stream CBS's coverage Saturday and Sunday. Rumor is, you may be able to stream ESPN's coverage Thursday and Friday, which is really the important rounds as I know all you oobers have awesome home theaters to watch the weekend coverage anyway (right?).
Other key features of the app include pictures and information on the course, player scorecards and stats, live leader board and news. If you click on "The Course", you can see multiple pictures of all 18 holes and other notable landmarks like Amen Corner and Hogan's Bridge.
If you don't have an iPad, there is also an app for the iPhone and iPod called "The Masters Golf Tournament". Basically, this app is a watered down version of the iPad app. You'll still be able to stream live video, but only from selected holes. If you're looking to brush up your knowledge of Augusta National before next week, you'll want to check out these apps. If you don't have an Apple product, Steve Jobs hates you...

They have to be working on an Android app. They have to. If they don't have one soon, I'll never apply for membership of their club. I'll boycott. There, I said it. :)
Famous last works mjaber...
They have an Android app, but no live stream on it. I would like to modify my previous statement. They must have an app with live streaming for the Android, or I won't join.
Kurt the Knife says:
still gonna watch on our home theater TV thingy. On monday.
Downloading in now...
i liked the previous apps, no commercials and you could hear Johnny Miller talking smack when the regular broadcast went to break.
Would that work in the UK or is it for US only?
Got it sweet
The live video is for the US only.
UVerse has a multi-view channel dedicated to The Masters as well..
Thanks mustang6560, bit of a shame. But I've downloaded the free masters 2011 app and I must admit it's put together very nicely!
