The Rapture Is Going To Ruin David Toms Chance to Win
By mustang6560 on 5/19/11
David Toms is doing it again (see David Toms Is Leading The Players). Toms is currently T1 with Chez Reavie at 8-under while Rickie Fowler and a handful of others close behind.

David has a habit out of being at or near the top of the leaderboard during the early rounds of a tournament, only to fade away during the weekend. Case in point last week. Toms was the 54-hole leader at The Players and during the final round, he managed to force a playoff with K.J. Choi by draining a 17-foot birdie putt on the eighteenth at TPC Sawgrass. What happened next? A three putt on the first playoff hole in front of his family. OUCH!

Maybe this week will be different at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial.

It's too bad Toms couldn't muster enough mojo to win last week at The Players because now it doesn't matter. Even if Toms heads into the weekend with the lead, the world is coming to an end on Saturday anyway so it will be all for nothing. I found out yesterday so if you don't know, don't feel bad.

According to a fundamental Christian named Harold Camping of Family Radio, The Rapture is happening on Saturday so if you have tee times scheduled you better make it for the morning, unless you're not a Christian, than you can wait until later in the day. I am not an expert on the whole "end of the world" thing, but according to Wikipedia, The Rapture is when all the Christians will be "gathered together in the air to meet Christ". Everyone else left behind will have until October (and some accounts say seven years) to correct their behavior before the end of the world will actually happen.

So again, it's too bad for Tom's he couldn't close out last week because I imagine if The Rapture really does happen, then there will be anarchy around the world which will ruin the finish at Colonial.

Funny thing is, Camping and his church has been raking in the money over the last couple years because his followers have been donating their entire savings to promote the cause. He's put up billboards around the country.

It may help clear the leader board though, Bubba, Ben, Rickie, Aaron, and a bunch of others are pretty outspoken about their faith so They "Should" be out of the way on Sunday,
Tiger should have entered this one

If it takes 5 months (or more) it sounds like the end of the world may be kinda slow, no? Does that mean us Atheists can have an extra couple weeks (maybe even months, god willing....literally) to lower our handicaps? That would be awesome. The courses would be less crowded too, i would assume.

Yay, May 21st!

I am a minister and Camping is way off and incorrect there will be no rapture on May 21, 2011. The book of Matthew chapter 24 verse 36 says "But of that day and hour no one knows...." What said is that his misguided attempts will stain the rest of Christianity. I feel bad for his followers because many have emptied out their entire life savings believing they will not need it after saturday. Yet the bible warns us about people like Camping;Matt 24:24 "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect."

I will be preaching this Saturday about his false calculations but my prayer for his followers is that they don't give up believing in God's word but in turn learn to study it for themselves.

Here is an interesting website that talks about it. www.aftermay21.com

God bless you all. Once again no rapture this Saturday.

So the Christians get the meet some 2000 year old fella then that's it for them. Meanwhile the rest of us get another 5 months to play golf on part empty golf courses? I'm betting he brings his clubs and joins in!

am not playing against Him. he got a lot of tricks in his sleeve (or robe). he can blast a ball from 600 yds out and have the ball drop like a dry leaf within the 3 ft circle around the hole. and create an earthquake to move the ball by the lip and a gust of wind to finish the hole in 1 stroke. that would be a double albatross, right? or triple eagle? or quadruple birdie? let's just call it a 4under hole! no FORE needed. :)

The Mayan calendar ends on the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in about 26,000 years. This means that "whatever energy typically streams to Earth from the center of the Milky Way will indeed be disrupted on 12/21/12 at 11:11 p.m. Universal Time. Looks like my dreams of breaking 70 are shattered. Because at the rate I'm going, I'll need another 145 years of practice.

Backquak says:
11:11 pm universal time??? what time will that be in the central time zone? and does daylight savings time screw it up like it does everything else?
I think the bible says to be ready, so wether its today, tomorrow, or next year, just be ready.

A guy tees off and his drive goes into the woods. He thinks he has an opening between the trees so he pulls out his 3 wood and goes for it. His ball hits a tree and bounces back hitting him in the head and killing him.

He goes to heaven and St. Peter say to him, "So you like golf?"

He replies, "Yes, I love it"

Peter ask "So are you any good?"

He replies, "Well, I got here in two"

Tennesseeboy, I hear the rest of that conversation went kind of like this "So Pete, do you have any golf courses here?" St Peter asys, "We never felt the need to build one, we get so few golfers up here"

Kurt you are correct on the time, you must be a pilot. I have +5s+6w scratched on my plastic watch to remind me to add 5 hours in the summer and 6 hours in the winter to get zulu time for filing a flight plan.

@golfsmith7: Thank you and 1,000 points for you. I know, I know... ...when the Apostle Paul wrote 1 Corinthians 13:5b, I'm sure that he, like Drew Carey on "Whose Line," meant that the points don't matter, right or wrong.

Even in the impossible case that Camping could perhaps possibly be accurate, a golf course would be a fine place for me to meet my precious Lord and Savior. Harvey Penick got it exactly right:

"What a beautiful place a golf course is. From the meanest country pasture to the Pebble Beaches and Saint Andrews's of the world, a golf course is to me a holy ground. I feel God in the trees, and the grass and the flowers, and in the rabbits and the birds and the squirrels; in the sky and the water. I feel that I am home."
— Harvey Penick (1905-1995), legendary PGA teaching professional
