Dustin Johnson Hires New Caddie
By mustang6560 on 5/26/11
The hunt for Dustin Johnson's new caddie is officially over. He announced yesterday at the HP Byron Nelson Championship that he hired Joe LaCava, Fred Couples's caddie of 20 years.
"I look forward to a long relationship with Joe," Johnson said. "It was important I found somebody you feel comfortable with because you can spend eight or nine hours with them in a day."I have the perfect celebrity couple name for Dustin and Joe. You ready for it - "JUSTIN". How clever am I, seriously?
Anywho, I don't know Joe personally but from what I've read, he seems like a nice guy. He and Fred were successful together over the years and since Dustin and Fred have similar personalities, I don't think Joe will have any problems getting along with his new boss.
I do think Dustin's success on Tour is directly related to his caddie. Dustin likes to keep it cool and carefree so he needs a caddie who is going to be assertive and help direct Dustin so he doesn't lose another major because he grounded his club in a waste area or nearly miss a tee time.
So far so good. Dustin opened with a four-under 66 at the HP Byron Nelson Championship.

So freddie never practiced?
So who do you know Personally?
I'm sure it was due to his back problems.
Freddie barely practiced well before the back issues. There was an article not too long ago telling back at college (when he was teammates with Jim Nantz) that Couples would sneak off and sleep in his car during range time.
Freddie likes playing, but doesn't spend a lot of time on the range.
