Keegan Bradley won the PGA Championship Sunday at the Atlanta Athletic Club and became the first American to win a major championship since Phil Mickelson at the ‘10 Masters. Keegan Bradley won the PGA Championship with an amazing comeback in regulation, then a three-hole playoff win over Jason Dufner at Atlanta Athletic Club.Heading into one of the hardest finishes in golf, holes 15-18 at the Atlanta Athletic Club, Jason was sitting on a four stroke lead over the field. After Keegan triple bogeyed hole 15, it was Jason’s tournament to lose and lose he did. Jason fell victim to one of the toughest finishes in golf by finishing bogey, bogey, bogey, par while Keegan rebounded after the triple bogey on hole 15 to finish birdie, birdie, par to force a three-hole playoff. In the playoff, Jason and Keegan both hit their approaches on the 16th to within a few feet of the hole, but only Keegan managed to make the birdie putt. On 17, Jason dropped another stroke to Keegan after he three-putted from the opposite side of the green. At this point, Keegan took hold of the Wanamaker trophy and didn’t let go. Jason’s birdie on the last hole of the playoff proved to make no difference after Keegan tapped in for par to join the major championship club. The most frustrating part for Jason, in the first three rounds of the PGA Championship, he played those four holes in three-under par. I bet the golfing world will be buzzing this week about the finishing holes at the Atlanta Athletic Club. Everyone from Tiger Woods to the course superintendent to the golf media said holes 15-18 would decide the tournament and they were right. I was rooting hard for Jason because I got to see him at the Zurrich Classic in New Orleans. I didn’t think much about him except, boy could he pack a pinch of dip. I saw him play several holes at TPC Louisiana and his bottom lip was extended far past his belly. Congratulations to Keegan. The only thing I don’t like about him is he putts with a belly putter. Other than that, he seems like a stand up guy. His victory at the PGA begs the question everyone wants answered this season, "Could he be the next Tiger Woods?" The game is 14 years removed from Tiger and is now full of Tigers. Everyone takes his surgical approach to the game now. Everyone can play and win when they are playing well, as evidenced by this tournament. Jack and Tiger will be cemented in history because they each came at a change in an era of the backbone and the technology of the game. 8/14/11

 ToddRobb says:Bradley doesn't have to be the next Tiger, he's the first Keegan Bradley. He definitely has the standard issue of talent that everyone on the tour has, the difference that I see is the "drive" that separates the wannabes from the elite. He could have easily given up after the triple on 15, but instead of feeling sorry for himself he birdied the next two holes. It's also great that he's 25 years old so we don't have to hear the "he's only 22" excuse every time he doesn't do what is expected. 8/15/11

 SD Charlie says:Disagree on the long putter comments - I think Angel Cabrera had a long putter when he won the Masters a few years back. He just didn't stick it into his considerable belly, he just used it like a regular putter. 8/15/11

I know you probably lost your sh@t a little there Keegan, BUT the first thing you do after winning (or losing) an event such as this...is shake your opponents hand. Then you can run around, kiss babies, hug friends and family and generally act like you did a great thing (which you did) that is all. 8/15/11
falcon50driver says:Good point elorablue, I was expecting him to turn and shake Duffners hand. It was a little awkward when he finally got around to doing it. Every round of golf I've ever played, ended with handshakes all around after the last putt. 8/15/11
guzzlingil says:I enjoy all the Majors....yes the PGA is last....I like the Masters, US, British and then PGA....but I still enjoy it...I watched the entire round on Sunday....and yes, I saw Keegan fail to shake his opponents hand until after....and he kept his hat on......I guess he got caught up in the moment. 8/16/11
