14-Year-Old Sets Course Record
By mustang6560 on 8/17/11
A 14-year-old recently set the official course record at Point Lake & Golf Club in Mooresville, North Carolina by shooting a bogey free nine-under par 63 from the championship tees. And the course is a Greg Norman design so you know it wasn't a cake walk.
Perrino had nine birdies, shooting 30-33 from the championship tees on the Greg Norman-designed layout along Lake Norman. He needed only 22 putts in setting the course record. The fact a freshman in high school has the physical talent to shot a 63 from the tips and set the course record does not impress me. Humans are very capable and with the right guidance and instruction, we can do pretty incredible things (i.e. Moon landing). But, what does impress me is the fact he has the mental toughness to put together 18 solid holes at such a young age.
At 14, I could hardly make it through a round of golf without throwing a temper tantrum or wanting to smash my club against the ground in frustration. One time I was so mad a put a hole in my golf bag with my putter. My friends still make fun of me for that to this day.

He is the next Tiger Woods!!
@BK- I was wondering who would be the first to say that :)
Mr. Perrino sports a current handicap index of +3.4 and the worst score for him so far in August was a "70". A true "+" handicap is pretty rare. This kid is a player.
Is this "Player"? My guess is no. It is not video game golf.
Dang it! I was out playing golf this morning and didn't get back in time to be the first to make the "tiger woods", or the "Player" comments.

Yeah...I've played with quite a few 14-year olds who are pretty dang good. I've yet to play one that didn't have at least one blow-up hole in an 18-hole round.
I do not see his score listed on our course link.He had better get with the program if he wants me as a fan:)
