Barack Obama's Golf Clubs
By mustang6560 on 4/12/12
One of my favorite things to do the Monday following any golf tournament is to read The Shop Blog on golf.com to sneak a peak at the winner's clubs.
I haven't been able to put my finger on exactly why I enjoy peering inside the winner's bag so much, but I think part of the reason is because I like knowing the equipment the pros use is not some sort of magical tool. They use clubs that are similar to mine (albeit specially tuned to their swing) so there is a chance I can become a scratch golfer one day!
So I was delighted when I saw The Shop Blog was able to snap a picture of President Barack Obama's bag. Regardless of whether or not you agree with him playing golf as POTUS, haven't you been curious to know what kind of equipment he was using? I know I was.
Turns out, he plays a TaylorMade R11 driver, a Nike Dymo 3-wood, Nike SQ Sumo 2 hybrids, Nike VR Full Cavity irons (the same irons I used for my hole in one!) and two putters, a Ping Redwood Anser and Odyssey White Ice #1. If you're keeping count, yes, that is more than the allow 14. And here I thought Obama followed the rules on the golf course?

And he gets to bring a personal cooler to the course. "It's good to be the King"
I don't think i trust a President that can't abide by a simple 14 club rule in a game that's supposed to be based on honor.
Since we now know what's in his bag, I decided to create an account for Barack. Now, if we can just get him to enter his scores...
Two putters?! That's downright Mickelsonian.
no wedges? TWG, send this man some SCOR wedges!!!

birdiexris...Oh. cummon. Lighten up
Was he playing in a tournament or something? And just how many irons and wedges? I think someone is jumping to conclusions about the 14 clubs. Show us the picture!
OK, who realy cares, so, let's just lighten up!
I think trusting any politician is a bad idea at any time. They will bend to popular pressure everytime. I think the President, current and all futures should be given some slack for playing golf and getting some justifiable relaxation. They actually DO have the weight of the world on their shoulders.
