Even though I am thoroughly interested in the new Trump International Golf Links, I'll do my best to not bombard you with stories about the "greatest golf course in the world". However, I do want to share Joe Passov's review of Donald Trump's new course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland because sometimes what glitters is actually gold.
I played Trump Scotland during the grand opening as well, and I have my own opinion: Pass me the Kool-Aid, because I’m taking a deep drink. This course lives up to every bit of the hype.I am expecting an invitation to play Trump International Golf Links from The Donald any day now. read more Image via Trump Golf Scotland Did I miss something? Tip Your Editor [ comments ] The one thing the course is missing is history. If I am going to make the trip to Scotland, my first $250 is going toward a round at the Old Course at St. Andrews. 7/12/12
Trump made no shortage of enemies with the locals in building this course. Of course, I'd be willing to bet that could be said for any new course. 7/12/12
I understand that there is no history, but the images of this course are pretty special. 7/12/12
@BentPutter "enemies with the locals...any new course..." That's not true. Mike Keiser continues to try and be a friend to the people of Bandon. That is why he is just about green lit on building Bandon Muni with Gil Hanse on property that many others have tried to develop, but failed. 7/12/12
HP is correct, as usual. Meanwhile, David McLay Kidd's Castle Course at Saint Andrews and Sand Hills near Mullen, Nebraska, don't have gobs of history either, but nobody is questioning the legitimacy of the greatness of either of those courses. Mr. Trump himself said that it will take at least a decade and some experience hosting other tournaments before he feels his new course could be considered for hosting an Open Championship. When Joe Passov says that Trump International Golf Links is a "bucket-list course," that's all I need to hear. When I can afford to go, I will go. 7/12/12
Uh, lots of people question the legitimacy of the greatness of the Castle course. Despised by many actually, very controversial from a design perspective. 7/13/12
