Rochester police say a man lied to local airport officials and told them he had a bag for a passenger on a charter flight, all in an attempt to get an autograph from golf legend Arnold Palmer.

Rochester Police Capt. Brian Winters said police received a call from Signature Aviation on Tuesday morning about a suspicious circumstance. Authorities were told that a man showed up in a car with Wisconsin license plates and said he had a bag for a passenger on a plane that was set to depart. The man was escorted to the plane, but it turned out to be a ruse by the man, who actually wanted to get an autograph from Palmer.

Winters said the man was promptly escorted off the property. He got into his car and was asked to wait for law enforcement to arrive, but the man drove off.
