The man needs no introduction by now, but at oob we believe those who deserve to be recognized should be recognized. Therefore, it's is my greatest pleasure to share with you Brian "bkuehn1952" Kuehn's latest submission. Fred Couples' recent selection for the Golf Hall of Fame stirred up a great deal of interest in Halls of Fame. Should Fred make it based on popularity, or is his resume lacking? Soon, the merits of Pete Rose were being discussed as well as the propriety of allowing e-journalists like Jason Sobel to participate in the election process. It got me thinking: What would the oob Hall of Fame look like?

I decided to gather together an unbiased panel to aid in establishing the criteria for the oob Hall of Fame (that would be me). After careful consideration of all the nominees (while consuming a 6-pack last evening), the selection committee presents the inaugural inductees of the oob Hall of Fame.

Kwaaso: This Oober currently holds the lowest legitimate handicap at -4.7 of those oobers actively posting scores. This native of Colorado has not been very frequent with comments or postings (0) but he sure has a great golf game.

Bernie Duffer: Bernie has posted 1,107 scores since 1/23/2009. That is about 25 rounds a month. The amazing thing is 1,057 of his rounds have been at Southwood Golf Club. If I ever play a tournament at Southwood, I know who I want to be my caddy! Bernie has to know every bump and blade of grass on the course. Bernie is no duffer, either, with an 11.1 handicap.

hp: Right on Bernie's heels is hp. He's a player, sporting a 2.9 handicap along with his 1,026 posted scores. hp appears to be more of a grinder, taking 20 years to accumulate his total. Perhaps most impressive is the number of courses played – 212! Sprinkled through his course resume are names like Pinehurst No. 2, Chambers Bay, Kapalua, Merion, etc. The Hall's voter is jealous.

Bryan K: As I write this, Bryan is probably making his 2,000th post to the forum. When one looks in Webster's for the definition of prolific ("marked by abundant inventiveness or productivity"), they have a photo of Bryan. He has also found the time, between postings, to lower his handicap over 10 strokes.

falcon50driver (fka merlin3driver): falcon is the Cal Ripken of oob. He started August 22, 2006, and is still going strong. It is a rare week that we are not dispensed some wisdom from this HoF oober. His posting number of 1,158 is second only to Bryan K. The falcon is not just another pretty face, either, as attested to by his 11.5 handicap.

legitimatebeef: the beef's posting "What did you shoot today?" has 1,655 replies and 708,794 views. To put those numbers in perspective, the next closest posting is 271 replies and 354,860 views. While regularly sharing his strong opinions, the beef has also managed to develop a very respectable 6.5 handicap.

Torleif Sorenson: The accuracy of oob's course database can largely be attributed to this workhorse. 33,353 course corrections!! The next one on the list is at 674. Tor, turn off the computer and grab your clubs!

DDonchess: Our HoF is inclusive so DDonchess makes the grade based on 572 rounds, easily topping the female oober membership ranks. Better, she is a player, sporting a 10.8 handicap. If you are ever playing in Louisiana and a woman suggests a small wager to make things interesting, better think twice.

So there is our freshman class of the semi-non-official oob Hall of Fame. Nominations are now open.

nice list above... I'm a little disappointed not to see guzzlingil up there. He has to have the record for most alcoholic drinks consumed (bud heavies, of course) while still maintaining a single digit hcp.

I nominate bkuehn1952, for people like him are the backbone of oob. Also no oob HoF would be complete without its fearless leader, mustang6560. His ongoing quest to break 80 embodies the eternal struggle that is golf for most amateurs.

I really would *love* to go play again, but I'm still saving for a replacement car - an effort another friend of mine is now calling "Project Subaru." God and budget willing, I hope to be into a used Subaru Outback AWD wagon sometime in the next couple of months.

And if somehow, some way, a few really well-off people were to make it possible for me to buy a new vehicle, I would be buying a *new* Subaru Outback wagon with all-wheel-drive. :)
