oobgolf Turns One!
By klangdon on 8/2/07
Wow, I can't believe its already been a year. oobgolf launched in August of 2006. We took a moment today to remember the many all-nighters and 'arguments' over how things should work, prior to our launch. Good times. Better times to come.
Some statistics from the last year:
oobgolf was founded by two cousins, Andrew Brown and Kevin Langdon. Both grew up in Pannsylvania. Andrew began golfing at a young age with his father, while Kevin did not become addicted until a year before starting oob. Both Kevin and Andrew graduated from Messiah College in Central Pennsylvania.
After college, Kevin went on to launch successful companies in Harrisburg, Philadelphia, San Jose, and Boston. Most recently, in Boston, Kevin helped create Brightcove. Langdon continues to provide consulting for a number of companies such as Comcast, Newsweek, National Geographic, and Mapquest, but his primary focus is on growing the oobgolf community. Kevin is the nerd that keeps the technology cutting-edge at oobgolf.
Andrew Brown worked with the Philadelphia Phillies and Fortune 500 company Automatic Data Processing before starting oobgolf. He and his wife now live in Germantown, MD where he works on oobgolf's DC Metro area presence. Andrew handles business development as well as managing all of the content that flows through the website.
While Andrew and Kevin dump every free second into the site, none of the site's success could have been achieved without the charity of its users. We thank all of you for your continued support, word-of-mouth marketing, and providing course data. You are a great community and we hope that we can continue to improve the tools to allow you to grow even further.
