Golf Team Suspended for Nude Photo
By mustang6560 on 8/23/11
Bethany College, a small Lutheran school in Kansas, suspended all 15 members of the men's golf team for the next three conference tournaments for posting a nude photo on Facebook.

The photo features the entire team holding their drivers in front of their male parts with their pants around their ankles. The team claims the idea for the photo was inspired by a similar nude photo of the UCLA men's golf team but they used golf clubs instead of range balls.

School officials said the photo itself does not violate any of the athletic program regulations. But, the fact the team named "Bethany College" in the photo on Facebook is against school rules. One of the members of the Bethany golf team said the picture "was only intended as a bit of fun with the lads" and the whole situation was blown out of proportion. The team appealed the suspension all the way to the school president and should hear back this week.

It wasn't long ago I was walking through the quad at LSU as a college kid and I had my fair share of fun in the process. But, even the college kid in me finds this to be idiotic. I have no desire to pose naked with 14 other guys for "a bit of fun", but each to their own. My issue is not the photo itself, it's the misuse of social media. If you're going to test the boundaries of your school by posing nude, at least have the good sense to do it in a way so you don't get in trouble. Of course tagging your school in the photo is going to get you in trouble ... DUH!

Sure, Bethany is a private, Christian school so naturally they took offense to the photo. But I don't think a public school would have reacted much differently. How is a school supposed to react if its student athletes are posting nude photos online? So while the three tournament suspension seems a little excessive, I doubt it gets reduced because I'm sure the school wants to send a clear message to its students.

"Daniels says that he hopes the team learns a lesson about the choices they make." Really? And who exactly would care if the school didn't make a stink and get it on Fox news for the entire country to see. I think the choices they make should include rethinking their school of choice. Granted it's a private school of a religious nature, but all things considered, i think the punishment is a bit harsh.

What do you want to bet that the only senior on the team was the one who thought this stuff up. SURELY that is part of the joke. I'm surprised there wasn't a player named Mike Hunt

When telemarketers call, we use names like Mydik Hurts.
Then we know when people ask for Mydik we know they're not legit.
Plus, some of the girls love to say "I haven't seen MyDik for a long time", and "I dont know when I will see mydik".
Oh geez, we used to have so much fun with telemarketers, I think we're on the DO NOT CALL list because we pissed off so many of them.
