TPC Summerlin Immortalizes Jonathan Byrd's Ace
By mustang6560 on 9/8/11
Jonathan Byrd made PGA Tour history last year at the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for the Children Open with his walk-off ace on the fourth playoff hole. It was the first time a player won a sudden-death playoff with a hole-in-one.
On Tuesday, a plaque was dedicated in his honor on the tee box of the 17th hole at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, the site of the his incredible shot.
With the conclusion of the FedExCup Playoffs just around the corner, the Fall Series is set to get underway. The Shriners is the first of the four events in the PGA Tour's autumn season and will be played September 29 - October 2.

In a separate but (kind of) related topic, I think the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for the Children Open needs a name change. It's a tongue twister and frankly, I almost fell asleep trying to type it it's so long. I understand the Shriners is trying to leverage Justin Timberlake's name, but the name is simply too much. My suggestion, the name should be either the "Justin Timberlake Open" or the "Shriners Hospitals for the Children Open". Between the two, I'd pick the former because more people know JT than Shriners.

"More People know JT than Shriners"... That is so depressing.
On the other hand. I didn't know about Jonathan's walk-off ace. THAT is pretty cool.
The term "walk off" is over used ..........................................................
How about the "JT Shriner's Open"?
How about "The Open Championship"? Oh wait, that has been taken already.
