Did Arnold Palmer unknowingly build a golf course on top of the Lost Colony?

The remains of the Lost Colony, the settlers who disappeared from North Carolina's Roanoke Island in the late 16th century, could sit under an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course in Bertie County, in northeastern North Carolina.

Researchers at the British Museum in London, acting at the request of a group of North Carolina historians and archaeologists, have found a symbol hidden on an ancient map that could show where members of the English colony established on Roanoke Island in 1587 settled.

Lost colonies. Ancient maps. Hidden symbols. This has all of the makings of a major motion picture. Wait, nevermind ("Roanoke: The Lost Colony").

If anyone was going to unknowingly build a golf course on top of the site of the Lost Colony, it only seems appropriate that it was The King. The Lost Colony was funded Sir Walter Raleigh, who was a trailblazer in his day (he tried to start the first English Colony in the New World for Pete's sake), and Arnold was golf's original trailblazer in the early 1950s.
