Golf Pro Sentenced For Peddling Cocaine
By mustang6560 on 1/17/12
Kenneth Glen, the assistant golf pro at Royal Musselburgh, was sentenced to 300 hours of community service for peddling cocaine from the pro shop.
Glen came to the aid of friends who told him their usual cocaine supply had failed. He offered to help, telling them he knew someone who could fill the gap.

He claimed he had bought around £500 of the class-A drug, posting packages through his friends' letter boxes.

Defence QC Neil Murray said Glen displayed an almost "child-like naivety", thinking he was not supplying drugs because he was not making any money.
To be honest, I was not surprised to read about a drug bust at a golf course. In fact, I'm surprised it's not more prevalent. Think about it. In order to buy drugs, you need access to someone who has drugs and if you are a member of a golf course, you probably do not associate with people who have access to drugs anymore, and you probably are not going to drive to the other side of town to get some. So the golf course not only gives you access to someone who can help you find what you are looking for - the person who mows the lawn or works the grill in the restaurant probably knows someone who can help - but it also provides a safe setting to make the exchange.

I do not condone the use or distribution of drugs.

Balls, tees, stash.

I don't know, Mustang. That seems like a fairly classist assumption to me; a broad generalization at best. I'm sure with enough digging you'd find just as many drugs pretty much anywhere, even in supposed high brow establishments.

A better lead-in to this article may have been. "Hey, check this out." and just let it be.

What's with the hard line denial Nate? Nobody's accusing you of anything, calm down sir! Hmm I wasn't suspicious before but maybe now I should be.

He put it in bold, so I believe him.

Sounds like the Chef was the buyer, so Mandelbaum's point stands. I know of Country Club members that have better access to drugs than most of the lowly employees . That being said, I worked at a course where we fired a guy for dealing at the course...

Is this guy an oober?? His contribution to what's in his bag would have been interesting during the "What's in your bag" segment a week or so ago.
legitimatebeef says:
Hell yeah, nobody parties like manual laborers.
