4HeadWear - Hat's For The Balding
By Kickntrue on 10/5/10
There are products for just about everyone and everything, but until I was introduced to 4HeadWear- I can honestly say I'd never seen a hat specifically made for bald and balding men. I was contacted by the founder/president of the 4HeadWear Steve Aronson who asked if he could send me a couple samples for review. I agreed, though never before have I been so ill-prepared for a product review on oob. I'm not close to bald or balding, but Steve assured me that 36 million men in the USA are, so I wouldn't have trouble finding a test audience. What Steve didn't tell me was how awkward it was going to be to walk up to bald and balding men and ask them to try on a hat specifically designed for "their situation." Anyway- I'm a professional. I did my job.

From 4HeadWear:
4HeadWear hats have been designed from the inside out for maximum comfort. The materials we use in our hats are not only comfortable but also offer the best moisture wicking capabilities available.

All 4HeadWear hats provide a double layer of moisture wicking fabric where bald men and men with receding hairlines perspire the most. This design feature keeps your head cooler, drier, and more comfortable. Our 4Head and Bandit hats offer this feature on the forehead area. Our BaldGuy hat has a double layer of material front to back, a feature not found on any other hat available today.
Here's the skinny- those who tried on the hats did actually find them more comfortable than a traditional ball cap. They are extremely light and while I didn't let anyone actually sweat in the hats I believe the claims of sweat wicking. That said, I can't honestly say many of my volunteers looked great in the 4HeadWear hats. They are completely unstructured and you definitely have to have the right head and face structure to look good in them. They remind me a little of what Andre Aggasi used to wear while playing tennis (hey- he was bald!). But hey- I know some pretty ugly people... so it may not have been the hat's fault.

You can buy 4HeadWear hats online for $20 a pop. They have a couple different models based on the level of your hair loss (seriously). If nothing else- it tells you their dedication to their audience is passionate. If you're one of the 36 million people who make me feel great about my full head of golden locks- you may want to check them out!

Hey, Garthspaulding, great idea but once you put these hats on your head you won't want any hair. They are truly the most comfortable hat on the market for those of us that are hair challenged.

seriously I am considering getting one for my dad - he is an avid, 1/2 bald jogger who sweats a ton! I think he would love it... Maybe I will inherit it when I follow in his balding footsteps. Yup, it's right around the corner for me now.

Why just the bald(ing)? What about those of us who choose to have little/no hair? I shave my head every 2 weeks. It's easier to maintain, I don't have to style it, or comb it, or brush it. I don't get "hat head", "bed head" or "helmet hair".

I have a drastic widow's peak that, this past summer, started to burn with just the visor (which I prefer when it's hot). So I started shaving it. Can't do the visor with a completely bald head, either, because of the rather conspicuous tanline. Problem is, it starts getting chilly at night in the fall, so I've started to grow it out again. Man, I miss the long flowing locks of my adolescence.

Do these hats come with a free Sebring convertible?

mjaber says:
@Shane S... I hope not. I had one as a rental once, and it was the most uncomfortable, underpowered, clunky POS I've ever driven.

It doesn't look very good in the picture and I'm sure it will look even worse after a few washings. That said, I'm ordering one to wear when I'm mowing the yard. If it will keep the sweat out of my eyes and the sun off my shiny head, it's worth $20.

Hello, I'm the owner of 4HeadWear and wanted to let you know these hats can be washed in the washing machine. They come out of the washer virtually dry, no need to put them in the dryer, a true testament to the moisture wicking ability. You can wash these hats time and time again. They will be sweat stain free and looking like new every time. I guarantee it.
