adidas Golf Samba Golf Shoes
By mustang6560 on 11/29/11
Our friends at TaylorMade and adidas Golf asked us to mention something about its new Samba golf shoes. Normally, we balk at requests like these (because we're not a PR outlet), but I actually used to wear Samba's growing up so I agreed to it.
I used to love me some Samba's! I wore my black and white Samba's every single day in elementary and junior high school. And every six months, I would get a new pair because I literally wore them out. I even had a pair of blue and white suede Samba's for game day (my primary sport was soccer). Luckily, I decided to upgrade my Samba's for a pair of running shoes by the time I got to high school.
The new Samba golf shoes will be available Spring 2012 for around $100. I'm not quite sure who adidas Golf is targeting with its new shoe, but I imagine if you are a soccer player turned golfer like me or if you're into making a fashion statement on the golf course like Rickie Fowler or Ian Poulter, then the Samba golf shoes might tickle your fancy.

Sorry Nathan - one word - UUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLYYYYYYYY!!!!
I think I have 8 pairs of golf shoes. (I have driven out of state to play golf and left my golf shoes at home too many times. I end up buying a pair at the course.) You can laugh at me, my golf buddies do...
Even if I needed a new pair, I would never buy these! I am not a kid anymore. I don't want to dress like one.
Well, I'm glad no one else will be wearing these because I totally will be. They are pretty sick. First off, Adidas makes one of the most comfortable golf shoes out there (second to Foot Joy, but who wears Foot Joy except old men that don't know any better?) Secondly, look at them! They look awesome. I've got a few pairs of cleats, but these would be for the days it's balls hot outside and you're wearing some shorts on the course. Not quite sure about the red or blue pair (I think those are designed for foreigners), but the blacks and whites are sweet. I'm not Tiger Woods, so I do not need to dress like him... like every jackhole in a plain red polo and black pants on the course...
And if these shoes make me seem like a kid, then I'll pound out some Fruity Pebbles before my tee time...
@FallOfTim - I am one of the "old men that don't know any better" you mention. I wear nothing but FootJoys - I have 1 pair of Icons, 1 pair of Sports, and 1 pair of SynrG's. I LOVE them all - comfortable, stylish, and a great value. I have tried Adidas shoes of all kinds and found them not comfortable at all for myself. For you, please wear whatever you feel like is best for you. By the way - I look bad in red so I don't own a red polo!!!
The info I have seen mentions the shoes do not have leather uppers and are only water resistant. It almost looks like they tacked a half dozen soft spikes on the bottom of their soccer shoe and called it good.
Some golfers may like wearing plastic shoes but I prefer my golf shoes to have some leather. They also need to be "breathable" water-proof with a 2-year guarantee.
I think they are pretty cool. for $100 i would more then likely get something else but as a gift i like the look. Foot Joys are not for old men i love foot joy. I have a pair of nikes but FJ is top notch.
Those are pretty sweet.
Whoa. I wear white Sambas on a casual basis, for me they're really comfortable so I'm gonna have to check them out. They are kind of minimalist, not much rigidity or support which can be a good or bad thing. I'm really interested Tiger Woods's new Nike Frees since I wear the Free running shoes and they feel great. In general its nice that golf shoes have become more like athletic gear and less like wing-tips/saddle shoes which seem about as relevant as the three-piece-suit as golf attire.
They could have at least given you a pair to give away!
GIVE AWAYS! GIVE AWAYS! THAT WHAT WE WANT!
So did you get anything for the free PR!
Samba's fell to pieces quickly, hope the golf version stays intact longer.
I like the look of many Adidas models, but they don't fit my feet well. Their wides are not very wide.
When New Balance offers a golf shoe, I may switch from FJ. But until then...I'm OK with being "old and not knowing any better."
Old and don't know any better? Fine, move out of your parent's house, get a job, and try to support yourself while you still know everything.
Relax on the "old and don't know any better." Guess some of you cant realize when someone is joking... we're talking about shoes here, for crying out loud! I worked at 2 different golf stores while putting myself through college, Foot Joys have a huge line and most of them are "affordable" for the casual golfer. I am only in my 30's, but I have owend a pair- hence me knowing they are comfortable, just not very asthetically pleasing...
also, @merlin3driver... oh boy... I'll keep this clean and just say you dont know me... so kick rocks, creep...
i've never owned a pair of FootJoys, so i don't know any better just because i don't like the look of them.
these Sambas are great though. i definitely want a pair.
the Nike Free shoe sounds good in theory, but but the Vivobarefoot shoe looks better to me.
Never heard of them. If I buy another pair of golf shoes in less than.....ummmm, three years, she'll kill me!
Enjoy your fruity pebbles, fruitcake, I'll wear my Foot Joys.
As I recall, only two things are from Texas... and I dont see any horns on you, sailor.
